abdconsultant 04-22-2011 05:40 AM

love to see the wip. great looking.

Johanna Fritz 04-22-2011 05:40 AM

Maybe a simple print with blue and another color-complementary or triadic.

gramarraine 04-22-2011 05:41 AM

I think a small, 2" or 1.5" of light and then a larger border of the very dark would really set it off. I love the effect of 2 borders.

redpurselady 04-22-2011 05:41 AM

Wow - it's gorgeous!!

Gatormom3 04-22-2011 05:52 AM

That is lovely! Your placement of the different shades of blue is stunning :-)

juliea9967 04-22-2011 06:07 AM

Oh! Love your quilt. Blue is my favorite color, but I would like one just like yours on my bed.

katkat1946 04-22-2011 06:12 AM

All of your blues are beautiful and look fantastic in this layout!

Albujudy 04-22-2011 06:13 AM

Beautiful, maybe a small 2.5 inch lighter border and then a 6 inch dark, dark border. It is just me but I make my border the size of my strips and blocks. For example: my inner border would be the size of my strip and the larger outer border would be the size of the block. What is just a 'Judy Rule". Clear as mud?

Treasureit 04-22-2011 06:14 AM

That is super! I like the colors

Rina 04-22-2011 06:24 AM

Very pretty.

Nancy Ingham 04-22-2011 07:04 AM

I love what you have done....beautiful! I vote for a wide border or the darkest blue that you have used. Whatever you choose, your quilt will be perfect. Show us when your quilt is completed please.

BarbinLittleton 04-22-2011 07:04 AM

I love blue! Your quilt is gorgeous! I agree with a previous suggestion, one wide blue border would be a nice frame!

Cuddly Quilter 04-22-2011 07:14 AM

Looked at all the shapes in the first picture and could not think what you would be designing and what a FANTASTIC :P surprise and a stunning design the end result is. Thanks for sharing. Good luck with the finishing touches

mavisreyn 04-22-2011 07:23 AM

Gorgeous! Love the contrasts and batiks are my favourite!

annieshane 04-22-2011 07:24 AM

Blue case of the blues. Sure would be nice if the moody kind turned out this beautiful.

quiltingal 04-22-2011 08:00 AM

I love blue, really stunning.

Buckeye Rose 04-22-2011 08:05 AM

Sigh.
I always do.

Look how great the lightest lights look right next to the dark squares on that center diagonal. They're GLOWING.

I think a nice wide dark border will just make the whole center sparkle. It's like midnight.

However, conversely, if you used the lightest light on the border, you'd get a whole North Pole frigid feel to it. Which could be very interesting.

So either extreme, not some value in the middle because that would just muddle the whole quilt. One border. Wide.

And matching, not contrasting, binding.

imnsho. ;-) ;)

I agree with all! Your quilt is fabulous. I just love the contrasting darks and lights. I might even be tempted to audition a beautiful larger floral if I could find one in all or mostly blues. It probably doesn't exist - I always dream up the perfect fabric, and then when I go shopping I can't find it. Guess I need to become a fabric designer.

The quilt in my avatar has a blue floral border on it. It was the perfect border for my quilt. I think you might like it on yours too. If you can find just a blue and white floral you should try it first! Lay it out and see!

Iamquilter 04-22-2011 08:27 AM

Love your blues and layout

voyagers1937 04-22-2011 08:27 AM

That is gorgeous. What is the pattern?

glowworm 04-22-2011 08:33 AM

Beautiful, nice job, I love it.

I would use your brightest blue for a finishing border and another lighter blue for a thin border all around the squares.

I am sure there are better ideas out there.
