the little bit that is off doesn't compare to all that is right with it...we are our own worst critics...i've never made a perfect quilt, but i have made some nice ones...good job!...

If you want to add some pink and a black binding after that, it would look good.

Is that a strip on the left side? could it be taken off and sided down just a little and sewed back on and go from there. It does show a very small wow but I relly think it looks workable hon. It is very beautiful. I had one do the same to be recently and felt just as helpless. It really is very beautiful and your doing a great job. (((hugs)))

I dont see anything wrong at all from this distance/angle - I do hope you finish it. If it really bothers you then you can try and square it up but I say 'sew free & sew modern' quilt outside the lines and all that ;-) I think it's lovely just the way it is. I prefer quilts that have a little character.

Pretend that the right & left pink borders aren't there, and measure the remaining piece at the top, through the center and at the bottom. Are they all the same measurement? Perhaps it's out of square and not the border?
It looks ok to me..A cute binding and you will be good to do :!:

Quilt for a Cure. None of us are PERFECT and our quilts tell that story Just proud you are putting it in fabric.

Everytime you look at the quilt, the errors will jump up and smack you in the face. You have to fix them or hate the quilt forever. I'd say, take off the two dark pink side borders. Add a fairly narrow lighter pink border all the way around and then the dark pink. If you cut it wrong, and that is why it is narrow at the top, cut another one. If you don't have the fabric to cut another, cut the other borders down to that narrow width and sew them back on. You've obviously put lots of time and skill into it so far, hang in there and you'll be proud you did.

Exactly what I would say :) dont be discouraged. |
When my perfectionist friend starts worrying about a tiny little imperfection, I usually grab the quilt (in a sweet way, of course), hold it up like I'm cuddling in it, and ask, "OK, can you see the mistake now?" Somehow, that puts any mistake in perspective.
I'm very global, of course, so small, not-so-straight edges don't really bother me much... |
Completely agree with everyone else. It's beautiful!! Look forward to seeing the finished product.
There is no Quilt Police here, it looks just fine, just put the other borders on & see how it looks to you.
Starch it heavy, iron the dickens out of it, quilt it and you will be the only one to ever know
The only thing I see is the strip on the left looks like it was put on too low. Rip it - reinstall it, add top and bottom same pink border and you're back on track.
It's cute! |
I agree with everyone else! another border and it will be GREAT!

Honestly, is this thing salvageable? Lori |
Why not make it checker - board fashion and see if it looks straighter? Otherwise, make a crazy quilt out of it by slashing etc.
Thank you all for your really GREAT ideas and kind words of encouragement.
I am going to give it a rest for a day or 2. Pick it up again on Wednesday and move forward with a positive perspective. I'll get this finished and quilted in time for the relay for life in May. I think I can, I think I can, I think I can!!! Thanks!!! Lori |
Don't tell anyone, and no one will notice. the colors are beautiful. you could applique a cute wavy vine in that border.. it would mask the uneven blocks... or just rip it out and square up those. You will be happier. Fons an porter makes a red seam ripper that rips in a second... very sharp. what ever you decide, do not put it in the drawer.. It's not ugly by any stretch.

Let me give you my address. I would love to have it. You did a great job. Just square it up and add pink border on top and bottom and bind in black and I think it will be beautiful. No one is going to get out a tape measure. If you are really worried about it, take the left side border off. Add another one that is larger than you need and then square it up.
Just needs finishing. Looks great and a great cause!
Your relay for life team is gonna love it no matter what. Their not gonna take out a rule and measure the squares. Besides its the thoughts and prayers that go with your concept that count anyway. Unless they are professional quilters their not going to look at any flaws. Bless you for the thought.

looks good to me.......
Well, I have certainly learned some wonderful information for correcting problems. Definitely finish your banner using any of the suggestions given. It's message is more important than any imperfections you may see. Your friends are not considered imperfect after a mastectomy. Your quilt will show no imperfections either.
It looks fine to me.

I think your quilt is pretty. Just add a top border and bottom border, quilt and bind this little beauty. You are being to hard on yourself. The relay for Life team will love your creation.
I sure can't see anything wrong with it. Keep going!
Looks good to me. If yiou need to kinda square it up a bit or put a border arond it. I'll be just fine. It is a pretty block. You did good.
Can you add more of the dark pink border at the top and bottom to frame it a bit more? Then a binding. I think it is lovely.

WOW. I see a lot of work in those spinning stars and they look perfect. Just needs the borders to frame it up! Great job.
What's wrong with it? You need to finish adding borders. Why don't you complete the pink border on the top and bottom and then add a pretty pink and white floral print border. Finish with the solid pink for binding. I don't think it needs any more black fabric.
It's not an issue created from pressing is it? I also think you should add a border and square it up a bit. I think it will be fine.
It looks great! Bind it and love it!!
I must be blind :D It looks great to me
I think it looks great. I have found that we are our hardest critics. Put some binding on it and quilt it and all the mistakes will disappear. It will be wonderful.
I would add the wide pink borders to the top and bottom. It looks like it should be fine after you just square it up!
