Just needs finished, and it will be a beautiful quilt.
You need to send the quilt police to the next county. :)

Good advice! Square it up by moistening it and pressing it as squared. Then sandwich it and add binding and voila! It will be lovely. (Carefully watch your accuracy in measuring, cutting and 1/4" seams in your next projects.)

Looks good to me. I like it!!

Here is what I see in the picture. The 2 pinwheels with the dark background at the top middle are wider apart than the 2 similar pinwheels at the bottom. This is causing the upper portion to be wider than the bottom portion of the quilt. Unsew the left side and the 2 upper middle pinwheels. Correct the 2 upper middle pinwheels to be the same width as the lower middle pinwheel and sew it all back together. It should be more square afterwards.

Honestly, is this thing salvageable?

Lori

What's wrong with it? Put a backing on and pass on to the relay for life.

Aquarius 03-01-2011 10:26 AM

I don't see anything wrong with it. Looks good to me.

pamkasperi 03-01-2011 10:28 AM

I LOVE it - what pattern is that for the squares that look like a pinwheel?

mrstgo 03-01-2011 10:33 AM

I didn't really notice!

Matilda 03-01-2011 11:05 AM

How is it a disaster? I think it looks very nice.

Wunder-Mar 03-01-2011 11:12 AM

The banner will be moving, right (either held by people or on a pole)? I would not worry about it at all - it's beautiful!

Patchworkmarion 03-01-2011 11:23 AM

Looks good to me.Keep going

hilda Vest 03-01-2011 12:16 PM

Just square it off and be done with it. Or you could square it off and add a black binding to equal the right side. It doesn't look bad. Quilts can be challenging, but sometimes that's when we fix it and come up with a new idea.
Who said each side has to be the same? Another idea, make both sides two colors......What you have is not a big problem.

scraphq 03-01-2011 12:35 PM

I think your quilt looks fine. The geometric background that it's laying on is making it look skewed because it isn't lined up with your quilt. Try laying it on a plain background and you will get a completely different view of it. Beautiful! Finish it.

4girlsmimi 03-01-2011 12:49 PM

I think your quilt is very pretty and I don't see anything wrong with it either. Add some borders and it will be great! Good job!

pawebdoctor 03-01-2011 01:11 PM

You are being too hard on yourself. Finish it up and be proud!

maryhopkins39 03-01-2011 02:02 PM

Looks good to me! Trim the left side a little and you are goo to go! Your piecing is perfect! Have a glass of wine and quit obsessing! LOL!

YQuilts 03-01-2011 02:21 PM

I agree with this gal! your being to hard on yourself.

ann clare 03-01-2011 03:14 PM

Continue with the borders and you will feel better. Looks okay to me.

Joyce L 03-01-2011 03:19 PM

I can see a slight wave on the side of the quilt. Have you tried to cut it down a little to make it even? Then you will have to take the same amount off the other side to keep it even. Then you can add a binding to finish it off. That is what I would do.

I think I see what you are talking about. I had a similar problem a few quilts ago. Try adding a half block to inside of every other block. Alos a half block to outside of other blocks. They will not line up, but look like they are dancing or staggered. My lemon turned out into delicious lemonade.

I think it looks great, you have to look very close to see any mistakes. Add a border and then square it up, it will look fantastic!!! Unless you point out the imperfections, no one will notice!

Letty Wilson 03-01-2011 03:59 PM

It's beautiful and I love your colors--But ! seeing you asked--is the white square a smidgen wider at the top than bottom? If that was completely squared it would bring the two top blocks together a bit so the points match and would automatically make the sides straighter. This is only the way it appears to me or the way it's possitioned on the table. It is still lovely tho'and unless you're unduly persnickity---leave it be!

sherriequilts 03-01-2011 04:13 PM

Like it alot. Finish up the borders and bind it. :)

nclauri 03-01-2011 04:37 PM

Please finish it! It looks great.

anniec55 03-01-2011 04:44 PM

finish it!! You will surprise yourself.... you can always add a border and square it up maybe that will make you feel better, or add
"wonky border" and square it up.... I think no matter what you do, you will be pleased with it when it's finished, its very pretty.

mouseface 03-01-2011 04:56 PM

looks fine to me i guess i dont see it in the pic

Nettie Phillips 03-01-2011 05:05 PM

The only thing I can figure out is that maybe the white triangle
on the bottom left may be a little smaller and causing the left
side to go in a little. I am not sure.
