I've been making crumb blocks for a few years now, but it wasn't until a few months ago that I realized what they were called...I love scrap quilts and have a ton of scraps!!! Anyhoo...this quilt is made up of 3 1/2" crumb blocks, + a couple of 6 1/2" paper pieced frog blocks and a couple of 6 1/2" sailboat blocks...I've not only used crumbs, but occasionally a tiny paper pieced block was thrown in...I had such fun doing this!!!

Not a big scrappy person, but I'm really liking your quilt.....I know I need to become more resourceful with my scraps and this looks like a great pattern to put my scraps to good use....

I need to get busy with my crumb blocks. Maybe we need to have a "together" sew day soon-?

Tartan 03-25-2011 07:04 AM

Well, you've inspired me. I'm going to look to see how many tiny paper pieced blocks I have hiding and use them. Great quilt top!

A very, very cute crumb quilt. Where can I get a pattern for that sailboat with the big sails?

4girlsmimi 03-25-2011 07:10 AM

Love, love, love those scrappy quilts. Yours is beautiful! Love the added pp blocks. Really pop out on the quilt. Great idea to use those extra blocks. Thanks for sharing your beautiful scrappy!

I'm sorry, but it's just something I drew in my EQ.

Thank you everyone for your kind comments! I love scrappy sooo much!

Will look forward to seeing what you come up with! Since there's not a pattern, you can't do anything wrong, right?

:)

LOL! One mustn't get too hasty throwing away scraps now! It's really insane, as I have trouble getting rid of only the teeniest of scraps! I think my scraps are almost as large as my fabric stash now!

jaymemade 03-25-2011 09:11 AM

Great idea! The little paper pieced blocks really bring something and make it more interesting. Great job.

QuiltnNan 03-25-2011 09:15 AM

jillnjo 03-25-2011 10:13 AM

I love your bright cheery quilt! The little blocks make it so neat. Scrappy quilts are one of my favorites.

Jingle 03-25-2011 10:14 AM

Very pretty, good use of scraps.

oksewglad 03-25-2011 10:28 AM

I love this, too. Those PP blocks really allow the eye to stop and then move onto the next PP block. Very clever placements.

KathyAire 03-25-2011 10:43 AM

Nice quilt. The frog, sail boat and tree are nice added touchs to an otherwise crumb quilt.

lighthouse 03-25-2011 10:46 AM
