I was taking an online Feather lesson on my longarm & now it's done! This is only the 4th quilt on my machine, so be gentle!

debcavan 06-28-2012 04:14 PM

That is amazing to have that much control on only your fourth quilt.

w7sue 06-28-2012 04:18 PM

You did a great job! I have done about 12 quilts for charity so far on my longarm and I don't think I am brave enough to tackle feathers. I have to admit, I enjoy doing freehand work over pantographs. I have a group that makes a lot of scrappy pieced hearts for charity and I have been getting pretty good at doing hearts freehand. The one I did today had a lot of stop and starts because the maker of the top had put a sashing between the hearts. I did a wavy line in the sashing across and did some curly q's and hearts along the top and bottom, then I unpinned and turned the quilt and repinned it on and did the side borders and the other sashings. It turned out pretty good - even if I do say so myself --- of course, I had to look up how to do the side and other sashings once I had the first part done - I was so afraid I was going to find out I needed to to them as I went along -- thank goodness for the book!

Cindy..........What a gorgeous job you have done with your freehand feather quilting!! :D I just love your Carpenter's Star Mystery Train quilt top. Boy, you had better be careful as all of us who made this Mystery project might just show up at your house with our quilts in hand, for you to quilt them just the same!! Very nice job.
:D :D :D :D

Your quilting is wonderful. I need some lessons - where did you find the online class?

Everose 06-28-2012 05:39 PM

Cindy, it is awesome. I think I'll send mine out to be quilted as my fmq sucks. Can't wait for the next one though.
