Joanne...I've always heard about the pineapple meaning welcome...never knew exactly where its beginnings were. I know I've heard it since I was a small child, but maybe thats because my GGGF was a sea captain from Maine. :D

I knew that pineapples meant welcome but not why. What this quilt means to me is love and family. My GGGF served in the Civil War, reminded by the CW fabrics. I thought of Never Ending, meaning never ending love and a never ending line with the arcs that go without end around the border. Also that the quilt seems to be never ending in getting it done.

Got the HSTs for 12 blocks done, 8 for each block. Only 12 more to go! I'll sew all of the HST sections together (they have a square between them and a strip below them) and then match them up with the completed 9-patch and corner sections.
Need to view the completed blocks as I do it so that I don't make any duplicates. There are two sections of each fabric... two 9-patches the same, two HST sections the same, and two corner sections the same. Glad that you enjoyed the blog. It's basically a journal of my projects, sometimes include techniques. |
When I have to keep completed blocks "in view" it is such a problem around here...I have to peek around the cat who will invariably lay on the exact one I need to see.. :roll:

Mine got banned from the sewing room. I just couldn't deal with fur on my fabric!!
I thought of a simple way to do it. I will hang up two strips of blocks that are sewn together in the middle of the design wall (which is a piece of flannel) and then lay out the matching 9-patches on both sides. Then I can see the matching ones side-by-side and pair up different corner and HST sections. :) |
That method sounds good. I have used the flannel to hang some before and it did really well as long as I could keep the flannel hanging on the wall. :roll: I just don't have the best set up here.
I've tried the banning the cats method and they just dig holes under the door trying to get in and then they also cry so pitifully...you'd think they never get any attention... :hunf: |
