I adore this masterpiece Pam.. it's a stunner.. I agree with Sandpat about liking the intermittent hearts the best but wondering about the effect of removing the ones already in place. Either way it's an amazing quilt.. I also want to let you know that I saw your quilt at the Knoxville show and went back for a second day and got some pictures of it for you. Do you want me to just post them here? or to send them to you? Your choice. If you want them e-mailed let me know by pm with your addy..

I don't know if I can do it, take them off. I got ready to and looking at those TINY stitches in monofilament that I can barely see and then not knowing what the glue will do.
I found myself picking up and thumbing through a magazine, then I emptied my scrap box. Then thinking that seeing it in person there is a lot more white around the hearts than in the EQ7 picture. Here is what it is right now, only the first and third rows are done which shows the size of the finished hearts. I guess I just don't want to do it. |
I think I would leave it just as it is and mark it up to...a design decision you can use on "another" quilt. You could very well just create alot more work for yourself and then end up not happy with the result. In looking at the "real thing" and focusing on rows 1 & 3...I think there is enough white around the hearts. Who would ever even think about the other option anyway since it won't be hanging next to it like you showed the EQ pics... I say...."ONWARD"

Thanks. :) There's always the next one and it's true that you learn something with every quilt.
I liked it in the beginning and I still like it. I have another row of hearts glued on and ready to sew. |
I don't blame you for not wanting to take off the hearts.
I would leave it. It's beautiful the way it is. |
Pam, I know you think you are taking a long time to do this one, but you really are moving quickly! You'll have all the hearts done before you know it! :D

If I do one row of hearts per evening it will be done this week, have 5 rows to do. I haven't worked on anything but this since April, well... did the IRR rounds.
I'm kind of proud of myself for not moving onto something else when it felt like this wasn't getting anywhere. It seems that in the last year that I have very much improved in that area. |
Stay with the everyone and the next one can be every other one lol :-D

Congrats on the "hanging with it"...I plan to do that more this year. I've got the Jane that I'm working on and once I finish up the IRR tops for others...I am going to finish some quilts this year and actually quilt them!!! Well...thats the plan anyway.
|
I decided not to do the Jane after 4 or 6 blocks. I found that I really didn't have a personal interest in doing it, was just doing it with the group. I used the fabric in this quilt that I got for the Jane. :)
I counted the stack of finished tops that need to be quilted yesterday... there are 9 of them (and another hanging in the closet that the applique needs to be finished on) and there is one on the LA frame right now that is being worked on sporadically. After I get my son's quilt done next, maybe I should concentrate on getting them quilted and get caught up for the New Year. |
