Hotpads

When I started making this style/size of hotpad, they were for my husband who never believes pot holders are big enough! I prefer using them as a pad for setting down a hot dish. When I gave a couple to my mom, she used them on her kitchen table to set candles on (and occasionally hot dishes)--versatile little buggers! The ones I gave her had fall-themed fabrics, and she mentioned that she would like to have more, so she could use them all through the year.

Her birthday is coming up, so here is what I made (except for the one on the bottom right, they are double-sided--the second picture shows them flipped over).

You are so creative. I have lots of fabric that I want to use up and this looks like a great idea. Thank you for sharing.

Can I ask what size they are and what did you put in the middle? What a great idea to make one for each season for your mom for her birthday. She will love these as much as we do.

They are 10.5" in diameter (I drew around a dinner plate). I layered them as follows: top fabric, flannel, Insulbrite, flannel, bottom fabric. I have used cotton batting instead of flannel sometimes--just depends what I have scraps of. :)

Thanks for the kind words, everyone.

Very pretty, and like you said so versatile.
