How about if you marked it off into squares and pieced them using the appropriate colors.

Mama

That view looks so peaceful & sureal. It must be like looking at a piece of heaven on earth.
Klue never ceases to amaze me with her advice - she's just like a Fairy Godmother always there when you need her.

Good luck with your project - can't wait to see it.

Does anyone have any tips? A link? A book you'd recommend?

This is on the Southern Shore of Newfoundland... also known as the Irish Shore in a little place called Tors Cove. We have sat there looking down at the Cribbeys ( that's the name of this tiny spot) and watched whales breach just beyond the headland. It is heaven on earth for me. And very special for my husband as his greatgrandmother was born in Tors Cove.

IF YOU WORK WITH IT LIKE AN OIL PAINTING, YOU WILL START AT THE FURTHEST AWAY . This way forfront is last. Try looking at the photo with this in mind. There are lots of landscape quilt books available. For sure it will need applique and piecing.

I can't give you any tips but I too would like to try an 'art' quilt ---that is, after all my 'must-do' projects are finished LOL.

Aren't we lucky!!!! I live in the area and visit this spot often in the summer. I have sat on that grassy area too and watched the whales and icebergs. Another of my favorite spots is the lighthouse in the community where I was born----the Ferryland lighthouse ---- I'd like to do that in a quilt.

I saw on sewing with nancy, beautiful photo quilts, you print it on material, al large as you want it by breaking it up into tiles, then sewing it together. The quest added a frame around it. Maybe the directions are on the web site.

Wow, what a beautiful place.
You are so lucky to live there.

My favorite brother-in-law (On my hubby's side!) is from Ferryland. His mother still lives there... I know all the terms... the Downs, the Pool, etc, but couldn't tell ya where they're all too!

WOW looks like a place in someone's dream Let us see pictures when you do it. I too would like to give it a whirl but don't think I'm artistic enough to pull it off.

Hi Mamagus - I've got a book that tells you how to turn photos into quilts - I don't need it, PM me your address and I'll send it to you.

What a beautiful place! It certainly would make a beautiful art quilt. I agree with all the suggestions given. I have the Landscape Quilt book, and have been gathering fabrics to make some of favortite spots from childhood and trips, and books, and...... The old bucket list syndrome!

Can't wait to see what you decide to do!
