Ouch. Well it shows that you put your love into it. It's a shame he did not see that.

A long time ago I made my first afghan which my FIL loved after he died my SIL used it on the floor of her car for the dog so her carpet didn't get dirty! I was so upset at the time but them I got thinking both my FIL and the dog enjoyed the quilt and how sad it is to not be appreciative of the love that goes into handmade gifts.Some people just don't get it but that is their loss.Keep on making gifts of love! By the way good job on the project. Quilty hugs to you

I have noticed that there are many people that just don't like quilts. I have to admit I've never been a fan of them myself. I'm very particular about what patterns I like. Mostly make tabletoppers and placemats. Having said that...I find that now that I'm getting more and more experienced I'm really enjoying quilts. I can appreciate the work and love that goes into them and they have grown on me.

All the men in my life don't like quilts. When my DD said the other day that my new SIL hates quilts he said" I never said I hate quilts!" She said"You didn't have to. We could see it in your face when you look at them!" LOL She's right. Every time I show him my latest project he says nothing and just has this "look" on his face. Like he is trying to be nice and say something but just can't bring himself to do it!
:lol:

I'm sooo sorry your father hurt you. The hurt from a parent is the worst kind. I think you did a wonderful job on your quilt. {{{{HUGS}}}}

It looks perfect to me. I can't believe a parent would hurt their child like that. I remember when my sister and I were little we made our mom some really awful earings. of course we thought they were beautiful. Not only did she wear them, she wore them to Mass! I can't remember her wearing them again, She said she would keep them for "special" After she passed we found them in her jewlery box.

I'm so sorry.....I, too gave my Father a quilt for Father's Day. I didn't get the reaction I was hoping for, although he said he liked it. It got folded and put it away. He didn't even thank me either. After all these years(60),I'm still looking for my Father's approval. You did this beautiful quilt out of love for your Father, maybe he'll see that one day.

Shocking and rude! Sadly, my father would have done the same thing to me. I feel your pain. Some of us didn't get the parents we deserved. Your piece is beautiful. Your father has a mean streak. His actions are unforgiveable in my book.

You did an awesome job. Hugs Some people no matter who, how close can't appreciate the work, time, sweat, prde and joy in the accomplishment of a quilt. or Wall hanging. U did good.
Don't lose the joy you gained in the sewing.

I'm so sorry, it is very pretty! I think maybe it's a guy thing. I have always loved gifts our girls have made me for any holiday, but my husband would rather not have handmade things. He was never blunt in telling them until they were teens, but he never got real excited about the gifts either. Of course I would be thrilled enough for the both of us and still would be! Of course I'm one of those moms who still has their kids Kindergarten artwork in the top of the closet, just can't get rid of that stuff, although my girls are in high school & college now! Lol :) :)

I think you hit the nail on the head. 'Uncomfortable' is the word. They may like it, but for some reason stupid words come out. My father always appeared to be uncomfortable when presented w/presents. It was like pulling teeth to get him to open them. I know he appreciated them, even though the right words didn't come out. :lol:
