It is a great quilt!
I'd bring it home, probably donate it to a veteran who would appreciate it.

When you made that quilt, you made it with wonderful intentions. In your heart, you did your best. That is what matters is you made if from your heart and you gave from your heart. We cannot control what the other person does. I know this hurts because it is your father, but give this incident to the LORD in prayer and go on with your next beautiful quilt. Pray for your father and one day, he will see the beauty in it and if he does not, the LORD does. I hope this helps. You are a blessings always remember that!

Oh!! I think it is lovely!... Makes me think of the Star Spangled Banner!!!! " bombs ( or fireworks) bursting in the air..."
I do ALOT of patriotic things... and I may need to make one of simular pattern!!!

I am sending you a hug. The negative things our parents say or do stand out way more than their, "I love yous". It is just the way we're wired. Give him time, he may not have known what to say or do with your thoughtfulness.

You did a beautiful job. He might have been having " Pass me the Midol" day......... Try not to take it to heart!

I think it's beautiful too.

I think it is beautiful!!
He must not understand how much work it was to make it for him. Let him know that if he does not want it you would like it back. Then if you want you could keep it or donate it to a Veterans of Foreign Wars/Legion and they could sell raffle tickets and make a lot of money. It is patriatic.

I'm sorry he hurt your feelings. My parents raised me to say a thank you even if it is not what I wanted.

Some people are just clueless as to how much thought and work is involved in a handmade gift. They just don't get it. Now that you know, that's one relative you can cross off the handmade gifts list. There are plenty of people who would love to have that very patriotic quilt. I agree that you should get it back and keep it yourself.
I've had handmade gifts rejected too, so I know how it feels when someone you love doesn't value your gift. Don't let it stop you!

Some of our older generation just don't get it. Try not to let it keep hurting, but forget any more quilted gifts for Dad. I think its very patriotic and its lovely

My Mother-in-Law was extremely critical of any gift. She would open it, say "No" and hand it back. She gave specific instructions on exactly what she wanted and still was not satisfied. At first I thought it was me, but she was like that with everyone. So don't take the pain. It is not you. You are a loving, caring, talented daughter. Your father, unfortunately is not appreciative. It took me a long time to not accept the pain, hope you don't get any more.
