Well this one will be way more affordable that that I can assure you but what they are getting is just about right if you had to do it yourself.

The price of automotive paint has shot through the roof lately. Most paint companies have 3 lines of paints, you have the "Economy", "Mid Line", and "Top Shelf" I get the same price as the high volume body shops get which is cost+ 20%. The walk in average Joe pricing would be cost +65%.

Clear runs me around $250 a gallon (Mid Line) and most of the colors I shoot are top shelf colors and they average around $325 a gallon. If you want candy colors my cost for the new base coat system is $75 a quart. I have used that system on 3 bikes and it is the stuff!! And dont even start talking hardners, reducers and the thinner I use to clean my guns with and use to reduce the Primer with. They average $30 a gallon and the hardner is around $65 a quart. It takes a different reducer for each thing you do (a stablizer for base coat, special reducer for the clear and the candies) the hardner will break the bank if you do not know which ones you can get by with.

Needless to say it can cost you an arm and a leg for a paint job for a car. The starting cost for me to paint a car is $12,000 and $2,000 of that is materials and the rest is labor which for that price means I do not have hardly any body work and I can usually make around $100 an hour in labor.

But on a sewing machine I can do a repaint for around the $150 to $175 mark (you supply the machine) and that includes a complete service. If you want new shiny parts or need to replate anything then that will add to the cost. If you want a Flame job, Pearls or make it a true candy then that will add to it also. But you can not beat a deal like I am giving especially when I specialize in both fields, Paint and Vintage Sewing Machines!!

I wish I had a FW for you to paint. You sound like you really know what you're doing. Your work looks fabulisimo! How do you have time to paint these machines, service... and quilt as well?
