I like it with the hearts. Great job and she will love it either way.

MaRanda 04-17-2011 04:29 PM

Love your quilt. I would leave the hearts out. It sure is a beautiful blue & white classic!

xsquilter 04-17-2011 04:44 PM

I would go without the hearts you've shown. Both layouts are pretty but I would want to quilt something in those beautiful white spaces!

I agree. However, if you do use the hearts keep in mind their placement (how close the same print is next to itself). You wouldn't have to put a heart in every white snowball, you can put some in the blue, on angles, and between white and blue. Play with it, have fun!

lheartsl 04-17-2011 04:51 PM

I like with the hearts.....maybe keeping it blue you could go with dark blue hearts.

karenm36 04-17-2011 04:56 PM

Without the hearts would be my preference. I love what others have said about a motif of some sort in the white spaces. I would use white thread on them and then a blue thread on the other blocks. This is really lovely!!! It's on my bucket list to make a blue and white quilt some day. Yours is so nice!!!!

QuiltE 04-17-2011 05:09 PM

I'm in the no fabric ♥s camp ... and do detailed ♥ quilting in the white spaces. Blue thread, without a doubt! :)

What a lovely 50th present for your sister!

javin22 04-17-2011 05:09 PM

I like the hearts.

4EVERquilt 04-17-2011 05:13 PM

UUHMM!!! well I like it with the hearts, it's just so much more colorful, the first lay out is good too, but I love hearts, thing is is go with your gut instinct.

sueisallaboutquilts 04-17-2011 05:32 PM

I like it better w/o the hearts.

Quilted Horse 04-17-2011 05:53 PM

I love it with the hearts. But...what if you just did blue hearts to keep it blue and white? Then some echo quilting around each? Or just a beautiful quilted design in each snowball would look nice too. Of course, in blue thread so it would show up!

Ditto the juvenile. How about appliqued or embroidered flowers? But quilting to fill the space is good too.

amma 04-17-2011 08:00 PM

I love the first one, if you wanted to go with hearts how about blue ones? :D:D:D

earthwalker 04-17-2011 10:48 PM

I love hearts, but I see what some are saying about the coloured ones. Maybe do blue hearts appliqued with the centres cut out (so it looks like a blue outline with a white heart shaped centre)...I'm not very good with explanations, so apologies if it sounds weird.

mmonohon 04-17-2011 10:51 PM

I like the hearts.

I totally agree with this! Also makes it look more childish with the hearts.

Without hearts

Same for me, I say it depends on who you are making it for.

QUILTNMO 04-18-2011 02:02 AM

i like them both but first one without hearts i think would be better

nstitchs 04-18-2011 02:11 AM

I have a thing for hearts so you know which one I am voting for. Beautiful quilt though.

sewnsewer2 04-18-2011 02:51 AM

I like the 1st one better.

OmaForFour 04-18-2011 02:54 AM

Definitely without the hearts

justlooking 04-18-2011 02:59 AM

Without the hearts, but I like the idea of quilting the hearts.

quilt3311 04-18-2011 03:06 AM

Without--the hearts are nice but I think it distracts from the blue. Besides that will leave a wonderful area for a nice quilting pattern in the plain area.

I like without hearts, but the one with hearts seems to have a retro 70's kind of feel to it. :)

I agree. How about some lovely quilting in the white? Maybe with variegated thread?

Scakes 04-18-2011 03:42 AM

Without the hearts is nicer I think. Or try blue hearts maybe.

Aquarius 04-18-2011 07:32 AM

I love it with the hearts. It adds color. I find just the blue and white to plain and boring. Just my opinion. I know most like it without the hearts.

Treasureit 04-18-2011 07:35 AM

I like the hearts on it

oma66 04-18-2011 07:36 AM

Without the hearts or with blue hearts. It is a beautiful quilt. With the colors of the hearts, the eye goes straight to the hearts, but if you had blue hearts I think you would see the hearts without them jumping out at you. Whatever you decide to do, it will be a lovely, lovely quilt.

Sibi 04-18-2011 07:56 AM

I like it with the hearts! I love quilts with lots of color cause they brighten things up and make it cheery :)

angiecub 04-18-2011 07:57 AM

It would be great if the hearts were also cut from the blue fabrics.

Kitsapquilter 04-18-2011 08:01 AM

I tend to like without the hearts for you sister. The white part would be a great place to do some fancy quilting and maybe include a heart in the quilting! It is a very pretty quilt...wish I was your sister!

These motifs are beautiful in this site. Those feathered heart motifs would be great in the white snowball blocks!

That was plan B, if I don't use the hearts then I'll try a special motif in the white space. Though then the decision is white thread or blue?

I think feathered hearts with blue thread would look nice. Although sometimes less is more and maybe go with white thread! I know I am no help, but I like your quilt! :-D
