You ladies have made my day! I have a longarm room that is in shambles and a regular sewing room that looks a lot like some of yours...Yes, I saw the hoarding episode and was also worried that they might make the lady throw away a scrap of fabric. Well, after taking photos of my little crammed quilting room last night, I got up this morning and just HAD to organize it better! I spend the whole day, and I think I am the only one who can tell the difference! It wasn't that it was that MESSY, it's just so crammed with stuff"! I really feel more comfortable when it is tidy and everything is in its place, it's just that when I'm working in there, I use so much "stuff", I drag it all out and that's why it's messy-also, it is a really small room (a little alcove off the kitchen/living room,) that I also have to share with a desk and file cabinet (loosing a whole wall)I try to make use of every nook and cranny available. I will get DH to show me how to post the photos (again!) tomorrow.

My sewing room is also my dining room. For a sewing room it's not too bad, but for a dining room it's awful. Found out tonight how awful as I looked and looked and looked for a quilt I've made to give to a Secret Pal at church. Tomorrow night. And I couldn't find it. For hours. My husband helped me look. I went back up to school where I'd taken it to show off to a fellow quilter who works with me - not there. In bedroom that's turned into Santa's holding station - not there. Sewing/dining room - not there. Oops - was there - in a corner - on a stack. GONNA get that room straightened up. I was already planning on how long I'd have to stay up to finish a similar one I had started.

One of the things that absolutely cracks me up repeatedly as i read thru these blogs ... is all the beautiful sewing machines (often more than one). First let me acknowledge that my sewing room is also messy and has recently extended into the dining area of our house. But really ... in each room sits a beautiful sewing machine (old/new, fancy or not) surrounded by mess, clutter and chaos, The Queens amidst their realms. I guess I a little weird at times, but I thought it was very funny and would make a great cartoon in a quilting mag

Loving this topic!!! I prefer neat and tidy but with such an abundance of fabric, trims, machines and tools, I can't keep up! lol

I have four bedrooms and dedicated one to sewing. The room I had set up as the "toy room" for my grandsons now has my treadmill AND a smaller quilting frame and I use it to quilt. The grandsons grew up and the air hockey table holds a fair amount of projects in the works!!

Often I've got a quilt on frames in my bedroom and use my kitchen island as a cutting table ... it's just my height!

Have been seriously looking at my dining room table to set up a project on my quilting machine since I purchased frames from Flynn. I would destroy my sewing room if I tried to use it in there! lol

And yes the living room isn't safe either. I do some hand hemming and basting in there.

My guest bedroom is off limits for my hobbies! I mean, gotta have some rules!!!

Well, Patricia, your place sounds heavenly-able to spread out at will-I supose you could always move into the garage (or attic/basement) and call your house your quilting studio! We have a 4 bdrm house also, but we bought it with our two grown sons and No 1 son thinks he is head of household (we 4 live together) and has laid down the law that our guest bedroom ISN'T to be turned into a quilting room - despite the fact we have NO bedroom furniture in there (except a blow up mattress) and other than a couple of our son's rather inebriated (sp?) friends who needed a place to stay overnight after a heavy night of partying, we don't have guests stay and the door seldom even gets opened. As a result, I am crammed into a small alcove off the kitchen. I think I might just gradually move some stuff in there (like maybe a cutting table) and see if he notices-what do ya think??
