My husband fusses at me because I always point out the flaws in my work! He says that whoever is receiving this quilt will only see the hard work and love you put into it! And, personally, I think it's beautiful! That was quite a project for a beginner!! I know longtime quilters who stay away from flying geese! Good job!
I rather like it! I think it will be pretty quilted. If you still don't like it, just chalk it up as a great practice and learning piece. You can use it to learn how to hand quilt or free motion quilt. But still, I like it.
its great my first was well the seams were off points did not match up it was bad but thats how we learn I still have problems yours are great. give yourself a pat on the back.
I certainly would not call it ghastly! I believe it looks exactly like what they are now calling "modern quilting", which is supposedly more contemporary in design.
I'm with ya on the flying geese though... I can't stand making those little buggers!! |
Seems we are all our own worse critic. This is a beautiful quilt with lots of different colors. You did great.
I love it! It looks great. I like that it isn;t "perfect", which I probably wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't said something.
I'm a beginner quilter too. Wfeld1st |
I don't think it is ghastly. If you don't want to finish it, just send it to me, and I will finish it for my bed. I like it very much.
I like it a lot. It's a pretty quilt.
Wow, I love all your fabric choices and it's a great pattern. I think you did a beautiful job piecing it. Like others have said, I can't wait to see it finished. Nice job.
I like it very much-you can send it to me and I'll hide it from you.
It is a wonderful quilt! I love everything about it! Your fabric choices are great! Once you get it quilted, bound, then washed I think you will love it too. You are just to close to it right now. You are seeing imperfections that we can not see.
Can't wait to see your next quilt! |

Lol, ok so here is the awful quilt I spoke of in my last post. Its my very first one ever and I still haven't quilted it. Oh and until I get the easy flying geese ruler from eBay, I am not doing flying geese again! Omg they took forever!
I think it is great. REALLY. your first quilt. You have to quilt it.
I like it. Three different distinct blocks show up diamond, star and square. Very interesting.
I think your quilt is lovely. I like the colors and pattern. Sure maybe every point isn't perfect but my gosh it is your first one. You've already learned that the right tools make a BIG difference. I've been quilting for years and I still consider myself a beginner because we are always learning new things. After you have it quilted, (send it to a long arm expert) it will come back and you will fall in love with it. None of those boo-boos will show. You should be proud of yourself!
you know..for your first one, it is the perfect learning experience! Go ahead and finish it!
I think it looks just fine!
I think your choice of fabrics and colors are fine, acutally more than fine -- contemporary looking, and maybe the rest will "quilt out" as they say. Very pretty.
Keep the faith, Annette |
I like it. Please finish it and let us see the finished product.
It is beautiful, and I am sure anyone would like it as a gift.
I can see were it does not meet up, but who cares. It was your first one and you did a great job on a hard pattern. GOD bless! |
I think you did a very good job. I wish my first quilt had looked this good.
It's a beautiful quilt. ou should have seen my first one, It was two inches longer on one end then on the other. I took that thing apart so many times I nearly wore it out. Your's looks great for a first time. finish it up and be proud of it. Love your colors
You have managed to make something that has a fresh and very current feel to it while sticking to traditional blocks. Finish it and display it proudly. I'll be looking forward to seeing more of your work.
Not just saying this. I like this quilt. You need to put it aside and take it out later and see the beauty in what you have done.
Ditto all the positive comments about a very nice quilt! Finish it and enjoy it. froggyintexas

Your quilt is beautiful and just needs finished out! Don't worry about the initial problems and learning experiences...we all have (or have had) those. It will be gorgeous and nobody is going to fault you for not being perfect yet!
I dont see anything ghastly here, in fact I think its quite stunning! LOVE IT
You did beautifully on this!! U can see the work that you have put into this with thoughts & love.
this looks like a n old fashioned quilt I love it..
Love your quilt.
Wonderful job for your first quilt! Keep on keeping on!
It is definately going to be a conversation piece. The colors are not 'ghastly' just different. My 5 year old, Bridget, likes it very much.
Thanks for all the comments. I think I am going to send it off to a quilter to quilt it.
pretty colors. For a first quilt I'd say it is beautiful. even if you no longer like it, finish it. Then you can use it for outdoor picnics, let the kids build a tent with it or donate it to a charity. Main thing is you accomplished something and have learned from it. No quilt police here so dont be so hard on yourself. Live and enjoy!
I love this quilt. It has that vintage look that I think is marvelous. You should be proud of your work and finish it.
