I just broke my needle. Grrr...should have invested in some new needles when I picked my machine up from the repair guy. Opps. :/

Could it be that you believe this quilt to be "gastly" because of the headache the flying geese gave you, so when you look at it you fell that same drudgery of making them? You are not alone in that predicament.
I put together a Log Cabin quilt early in my learning curve. Seems simple. But I made it for my Queensized bed. too ambitious for my skills. I also didn't understand the dark-light value of colors. I thought a dark color was dark and a light color was light. Not so. So, it was hideous to me to say the least. Other people thought it was lovely! It was 10 years before I actually made it into a quilt. What I am too long winded to say is, put it aside if you need to to give yourself a new focus on it. But after a while only you will know if you want to sew with it anymore. Give yourself permission to end a project that doesn't work for you. Some other quilter who doesn't like to piece but likes to quilt will love it. |
Double post sorry
i dont see it as being what you say !!! i like it
Oh my gosh it is awesome! This is your first! Wow can't wait to see what your next projects look like!
You may want to call them (flying geese) buzzards! Your quilt is very pretty.
Its a keeper! In the first photo, I didn't notice any of the unmatching seams. I like the colors you have used.
Not ghastly at all. Every pattern and quilt is a learning process. I have been quilting a long time and I learn something new with each one. I think your quilt is lovely. I love scrappy anyway. Watch Eleanor Burns videos and you-tube videos. The right tools help also. Invest as you can afford to do so. Another good source is Bonnie Hunters, Quiltville. Happy Quilting.

I think your colors are just gorgeous. Don't be hard on yourself as those blocks aren't the easiest. You can only tell when you look up close that they are off alittle, but I think that it looks fantastic!! Finish it and keep it for yourself.
It is not ghastly! It is very very nice! Your first?? It was a huge undertaking doing flying geese for your first quilt! I can understand your frustration. But your quilt turned out lovely in spite of the oopsies. I know you've learned a lot. Don't be discouraged! Don't give up! It is a great first flying geese quilt!!!!!!
I don't think it is so awful. Keep going on it and show us.
Quilt it. I don't know what you don't like, it is a nice quilt, and you did a great job on it. Not to mention the time and work already in it.
I like the design and colors you chose. Get it quilted & it'll take on another dimension. Thanks for sharing.
I love it!
You did a great job. I would have been over the moon if this was my first attempt. Well done.

If you aren't happy with it, use it for a backing; that way, you would have a two-sided quilt. Tks. GG

Looks good to me!
I absolutely love this top! Your use of fabrics is great.
You are too hard on yourself. Your quilt is very nice!!! Looks like one I would love to curl up under - and that is what quilts are for!
I think you did a wonderful job on your first quilt.
I think it came out great. Don't be so hard on yourself.
I need the see the entire quilt. Great job. Can't imagine tackling anything like that for a first quilt. I still work mostly with squares and rectangles.
I love the vintage look of it. Reminds me of those made with feed sacks back in the day. You should finish it, it's very nice!
You did a great job and it is so pretty. Nothing wrong with that quilt. Send it to me if you don't like it.
whoa...are you ever being hard on yourself!
This is your first quilt? I honestly like it. Please take a breather and come back to it later. Your going to look at it with new eyes and it's going to grow on you :) |
I think it's great...and I think with a dark border it would be even more gorgeous!
I like it - it isn't ugly at all - keep on going.
You are to critical, I love your quilt top. Your geese are just fine, I know because they look just like mine. Love your colors, please, put a border on it and let us see it again.
It looks really good. Be sure to post again after it's quilted. Nice job!
It looks nice to me!

I like your quilt: your color choices, the pattern, and I would be pleased to do that well when I piece my first one. Don't be hard on yourself. finish it and show us it to us again when your finished.
