Thank you. Funny you say that, cause the whole time I was sewing I kept asking myself why did I pick this pattern! It took me about a week to piece together. I had like 600 separate pieces!

Lori S 03-10-2012 04:45 PM

I like it ... and you didn't have to "tell " on yourself with the closeup... cause it looks fine. I think its a fine quilt top.

quiltsillysandi 03-10-2012 04:52 PM

I'll be glad to take it off your hands...! :) I think it's fantastic!

Nettie Phillips 03-10-2012 04:53 PM

Don't down yourself. That is very pretty.

Kathy T. 03-10-2012 05:01 PM

When that baby is quilted, you won't be able to see all of the things your eye is going to now. You'll want to keep it, but your dad deserves it because he has faith in you. It is really an excellent job for a first (or fifth) quilt!

Stacey 03-10-2012 05:09 PM

I really like it!! Your first quilt is something you can be very proud of, no matter what you think of it. You must finish it. You will look back someday and you will absolutely love it. Kudos to you and thanks for sharing.

twixbar 03-10-2012 05:20 PM

That is a beautiful quilt.

G'ma Kay 03-10-2012 05:22 PM

I would need to see it up close to agree with you, so just send it to me!

Chicca 03-10-2012 05:23 PM

In my opinion, this is a beautiful quilt! The fabrics you chose work wonderfully with each block and tie the whole quilt together. Thanks for sharing.

gayle bong 03-10-2012 06:09 PM

Yes, very nice. A modern look to it I wish I could achieve.

cwessel47 03-10-2012 06:12 PM

Check out my flying geese tutorial in the tutorial section. It will make them easy and accurate. When you are unhappy with a project, please remember, we all have to start somewhere. We learn new and better things with every attempt. Your first effort is worthy of applause!

JJean 03-10-2012 07:16 PM

Your quilt is gorgeous! Wonderful use of color for the design.

Also--- I just bought a 1/4 inch foot for my machine and am so happy--I should not have waited so long. I encourage you to find one. I found one to fit my machine and it didn't cost that much. I think it was Sew-for-less.com.

I actually bought one today when I picked up my sewing machine from the doctor. He had broke Thursday and I got him back this morning!

GingerK 03-10-2012 07:52 PM

Oh sweetie, finish it please. It is lovely and much nicer than my first top (that sat for 6 years because I knew there was a big mistake in the middle and just did not want to go in a fix it--but now it has a place of honour on our guest bed.) You should be proud of how well you did without the proper tools. Please finish it and use it too.

bamamama 03-10-2012 07:56 PM

I don't think it is gastly at all especially for your first one. You did good. I make flying Geese by using a paper piecing method. Alot easier.

N. Ft Myers? My parents live there.

I wonder 03-10-2012 07:56 PM

Wow! I like this quilt! You did a great job!

Grandma Peg 03-10-2012 08:03 PM

Think your quilt is great. Doing alot of points can be hard but you did a great job!!! Can't wait to see it completed.

What's ghastly about it??? I think it's wonderful. And the colors and your work are awesome.

sewnsewer2 03-10-2012 08:13 PM

Ghastly? Where??? I think it's pretty! Finish it up, you will like it then.

Whigrose 03-10-2012 08:16 PM

This is a very striking (gorgeous!) quilt. I absolutely love your fabric choices.

best,
d

sewNso 03-10-2012 08:47 PM

i like it. finish it, and you just might decide u luv it. binding and quilting and borders dress them up lots.

Rose S. 03-10-2012 09:00 PM

Oh, I love how the colors are arranged...this is a great job.

lovequilts722 03-10-2012 09:07 PM

WOW! I don't think it's ghastly at ALL! I am totally impressed with your first attempt at quiltmaking. It's a far cry from my simple 6 inch blocks pattern I did for my first! You should totally be proud of yourself. I love the colors and patterns in the fabric. It's very modern! Can't wait to see it quilted!

earthwalker 03-10-2012 09:08 PM

Well....now you have it....and going by the majority rules adage...get going and quilt it! Great use of fabrics/colour and when it's quilted and washed it will be stunning.:)

Katie 03-11-2012 01:07 AM

I think it looks great!!

Nathan's Mimi 03-11-2012 02:57 AM

its very nice to me!love the overall pattern of the fabric and the look of it

sept97 03-11-2012 03:19 AM

I say finish it and display it with pride, it looks beautiful

It'sJustMe 03-11-2012 04:07 AM

Have to chime in with the rest > love your quilt, maybe especially because of all the 'imperfections'. Hope you don't mind me saying that :)

twinkie 03-11-2012 04:15 AM

You always learn by the mistakes you make. That is what learning is all about. I think it was awfully brave of you to tackle this type of quilt as your first one. My DH husband said it wasn't awful, but quite impressive for your first one. I think you did a great job. A big pat on the back. I always look at a quilt top closely when I finish and pick out what I don't like about it. Then I concentrate on ways to make it better next time. Please finish it and show us when you are done.

heather1949 03-11-2012 04:21 AM

I don't think it is ghastly, I think it is stunning you did a beautiful job of it.

lillybeck 03-11-2012 04:22 AM

This is great. Love the colors and designs and as for seams not matching I have been doing this a long time and I still have that problem.

It has loads of those! :) I'm working on it right now.

catladyquilts 03-11-2012 04:29 AM

unless you plan on entering it into a show, no one looks that close at it. from a distance it is very nice, the color scheme is really good. Don't be discouraged (we all have at least one quilt top we hate in our closet)

Ditto! And if this is your first effort, you should be proud of yourself!

Freckles48 03-11-2012 04:52 AM

Put a nice red print border and a black print border on it and she'll be good to go. I like it!

Highmtn 03-11-2012 04:57 AM

You've just stared at the project too long.. I think it's SHARP LOOKING! Quilting will hide it's minor flaws, and then you're going to love it. My very first quilt was a class sampler... and the class was several months long. By the time that class was done I was soooooooooooooooooooo tired of that quilt. I love it now, but I sure didn't then. Love the quilt... pet the quilt... snuggle under it when it's done. You need to BOND with it...LOL

Scakes 03-11-2012 05:08 AM

I like it. Not ghastly at all. Be sure to show it off after you are finished.

sewmom 03-11-2012 05:15 AM

When I made my first TennesseenWaltz quilt, it bugged me that some of seams and corners didn't match on the stars. Then I was watching E. Burns' Quilt in a Day program that featured TW quilts. The camera zoomed in on Eleanor's- and guess what? Not all of hers were perfect either. I thought if she could show hers on TV, then I would be proud of mine too! Your quilt is pretty awesome BTW.
