My Hoopsisters Finish
5 Attachment(s)
This is my first Hoopsisters quilt that I completed while taking a 4-part class at my LQS. It's a fairly new pattern called Summer Dreams, although mine is fall dreams because of my fabric choice. It's such a beautiful pattern and my BL Unity handled it like a dream. The instructions required a 3-ring binder and were very well organized, thorough, and had many photos to guide the process. There were a few mistakes but it helped being in a class where a couple other students were stitching this pattern so we compared notes and made corrections as we progressed.
This was also my first time adding a flange to the binding and really love the effect. Each block took between 45-75 minutes to stitch. The sashing process did get a bit tedious but I do love the result and plan to try another of their patterns later this year. |
It's gorgeous!

Just beautiful. Did you complete it like a quilt as you go block?
very pretty
Lovely quilt!
Wow stunning! Did you quilt it also?
Beautifully done. I think those are so intense you really have to work in a classroom environment.... I know someone who did one thru a LQS too, it's lovely, but it took much time and $$$$$....it is her pride and joy, deservedly so!

beautiful job!!!
Fantastic! You have a lot of patience! Love the quilting you did on this. The backside is particularly interesting to me too!
Yes, each block is totally complete before it's joined together. Not exactly like a QAYG. Once the block is done, the batting and backing is trimmed away, the 1/4" remaining in the top is stitched together, and then the sashing is applied to the back to cover the batting/backing raw edges. You really can't tell but the sashing is topstitched (from the back) using a clear poly thread so it isn't noticeable from the front. Like I mentioned, it's tedious, but the result is beautiful.

Your fabric choices are great--love the piece and quilt as you go. That certainly isn't for the faint at heart. I really like using my embroidery machine for something more than putting a design on a pocket. You did a beautiful job.

Your quilt is stunningly beautiful. The fall colors are so nicely coordinated and there are so many points of interest in the work. I would say that the class you took was worth the cost because your achievement is great.
Just WOW. An inspiration for me! Thanks for sharing. Marcia

This really is beautiful. Hoopsisters does a mystery every June that I do with my daughter. She's finished hers each year. I have two started to finish lol.
Wryly, your quilt is amazing...I would have love to have been a fly on the wall in a few of those classes, it looks like it could have been fun and frustrating at the same time. I'm glad you made the commitment to finish...I'm sure it was tedious but like you said, worth it in the end. Congrats!
