It's going to be beautiful when you finish!!! I just made one (smaller) and I just loved how it turned out...

Lyn4ty 05-11-2010 08:27 AM

how can you not finish something that bright and beautful? Just take a quick one minute breather and dig back in, after all you're over half done and every stitch puts you closer to done. Hang in there!!

Quilter2B 05-11-2010 08:28 AM

Oh my, can you still see straight? Keep going, it is looking really good. Reminds me of basket weave laid together like that. Are you going to sash it or put it together strip to strip? Can't wait to see the finished project.

sarahelloyd 05-11-2010 08:46 AM

keep going, every seam sewn is one nearer the completion. That is what i tell myself about my Jane quilt anyway! It really is stunning!

gaillynne 05-11-2010 08:49 AM

Just sew together what you have and call it a throw!

janiesews 05-11-2010 09:03 AM

You have a beautiful quilt in the making and will so happy when it is done. You can do it! Thanks for the link to the sight-think I will try something smaller first and then maybe a big one.

kdid82 05-11-2010 09:41 AM

I made one of these a couple of years ago and did use strips; for the two outside long edges, made a pattern using about 10 inches of braided strip and about the same of the plain strip, decided if I made another, would use that pattern all over.

This is my audiotion of sashing strips. Not convinced.

hokieappmom 05-11-2010 11:02 AM

K, all your work is so beautiful and this will be no exception. Don't keep us in suspense. Finish and post

omak 05-11-2010 11:08 AM

Try alternating the direction of the braids, with and without the setting strips. <wave>

benson1 05-11-2010 11:52 AM

I see at least 18 strips in the picture. You had at least 13 in the first picture, I think, and you said you had one more than 1/2 the strips then. If my memory and math is close to being right, you have only about 4 or 5 more to go.....you are in the home stretch...you can win by a strip....er....mile!

benson1 05-11-2010 11:55 AM

does anyone have the pattern for this quilt

kwhite 05-11-2010 12:24 PM

This is a simple template I found but it is easy to do with 2 inch by 4.5 inch peices.

This is amazing! You MUST finish it so we all can be amazed!!

watson's mom 05-11-2010 01:36 PM

Please don't stop, this is what quilts were originally made to be. Scrappy but functional. Love it and thanks for sharing your hard work with us.
Just saw your audition of sashing, the black really makes it pop. Please don't let it be a UFO.

ann clare 05-11-2010 01:36 PM

Please, please finish and display in your own time.

mcdaniel023 05-11-2010 02:16 PM

It will be beautiful, shashings or not. Can't wait to see it finished.

Lyn4ty 05-11-2010 03:06 PM

i like the black sashing the best, makes the colors pop out.

Just add sashing stips between, a narrow 1st border than a wider 2nd border and your done.It will be great.

I LIKE the black in the sashing - it makes the colors POP...The white kind of tones them down.

I LIKE POP!

SandyMac 05-11-2010 04:33 PM

Are you going to put solid strips between the braids or just braids either way very very nice. :-D

kwhite 05-11-2010 07:04 PM

I may stop at 24 strips, so 8 more to go.

Quilter2B 05-11-2010 08:21 PM

Just a suggestion: try yellow for the sashing and black for the border.

Ditter

I was thinking the same thing...solid strips between the braids would really make them pop...

joellenc 05-11-2010 09:29 PM

Keep it up-you'll love it when it's done!

kd124 05-11-2010 10:05 PM

This is going to be a beautiful quilt when you get it finished--with or without the solid strips. We are all anxious to see the finished top so go, go, go.

Ditter

I agree! It would be such a waste if you don't finish such a beautiful project. Solid stripes would be quick and will set off the beautiful colors you are using.

Alondra 05-12-2010 08:55 AM

Don't stop now - it's too pretty to junk. Read a good book, change your scenery for a while, and then get back to work! You will be so pleased with yourself when you finish it.

azam 05-12-2010 11:56 AM

Absolutely love it! Keep going.................. Can't wait to see it finished.

Ditto!
Way too pretty to not finish. Your work is quite remarkable.

Jingle 05-12-2010 01:35 PM

I like it much better without sashing strips. I think you are doing a great job on it and I love all the different colors. It will be gorgeous !!!

KarenBarnes 05-12-2010 05:51 PM
