DH actually offered an opinion on this one. (very unusual) He likes it without sashing. Since he rarely does that I best take his opinion so he will be apt to give it again in the future. It is NO SASHING, but I might put on boarders. I still don't know about that yet.

zz-pd 05-12-2010 06:59 PM

Oh I love it, please finish it so we can see it done. God bless. Penny

kwiltkrazy 05-12-2010 07:25 PM

You definitely outdid yourself this time. I wish I could make scrappy look that good.

Yeah, I love all k's scrappy quilts. They are beautiful! Unlike mine which are not only scrappy, they're crappy!

kwiltkrazy 05-12-2010 10:49 PM

Gaigai I saw your scrappy on the other thread, I thought it was pretty.

kwhite 05-13-2010 12:05 AM

Yes Kwiltkrazy she is way too hard on herself. I like it too. She just needs to loosen up a bit. She is usually so uptight!!!

Miss Purple Shoes 05-13-2010 12:18 AM

It is beautiful. Just think of how many of us you have inspired by posting the picture! We are all waiting to see it finished...go girl

Control issues???? Oh, surely you jest! Not our little gaigai ... she is so easy going ... oh, wait! that was someone else. Once you get used to the fact that you have control issues, scrappy gets more doable ....
"Crazy for Scraps" by Sally Schneider ... talks about scrap quilts ... there are the kind that drive a lot of us crazy (pay no attention to color, just put it all together)
then there is the scrappy quilt where each block has colors in it that make good color sense, or compliment or contrast with each other, then all are put together to make a whole quilt ... similar to danmar's carpenter wheel
and the third type of scrappy quilts are created with a color menu ... where a certain color goes in a particular place in the block

For those of us with "control issues" ... the above definitions of scrap quilts seem to be right up our alley! LOL
You're okay, gaigai ... control issues or not ;-) <wave>

gaigai 05-13-2010 06:47 AM

K, are you done yet? Why not?

Joan 05-13-2010 06:50 AM

That looks fantastic!---

(word to the wise---put it aside for a week or so and work on another project---you'll come back to it with renewed enthusiasm........it works for me! lol)

I wouldn't put a border on it either---just celebrate the scrappy look!

If this board doesn't give you motivation, nothing will.
After reading all 9 pgs. Now I can't wait to see it. By the way;I like the black stips. Petal to the metal. I'm getting goose bumps waiting to see it.:}

I didn't do anything yesterday. I took the "baby" back to the dr. Her sinus infection is not getting better. So I am playing "poor Boo Boo" mommy right now.

This is beautiful!! thanks for the info. I have been debating about what my next project will be. I think you just decided that issue for me.Goooo-------- finish it..

omak 05-14-2010 06:10 AM

Five is a REALLY good number! <g> <wave>

Yup, my color theory has pretty much been composed of two points: "If you use all the colors, they all clash equally" and
"Color is good"

Butterflyblue 05-14-2010 07:03 AM

And I have a thought - I won't even call it a suggestion because I know you've pretty much decided not to go with strips between.

I don't know that black is the right color. It's what I thought would work at first for strips, but it looks kind of plain. I would try turquoise. I have decided that turquoise is the magic color for accenting scrap quilts (see the quilt in my avatar). And of course, it goes back to Point #2 of my color theory: Color is good.

But that may be just my crazy opinion.

Overlander 05-14-2010 07:11 AM

Don't loose hope on finishing this one Kay. It is beautiful and cheery with all the colors. I made one a few years ago and gave it to my sister this past Christmas. She loved it.

978gray 05-14-2010 08:27 AM

Go Go Go, you can doit it you can dit it...

luv-e 05-14-2010 01:36 PM

You have also inspired me to do this. Love the scrappy but I've promised my scraps to someone. Does it look good in momotones????? Has anyone seen it in momotones???

KGoodhand 05-14-2010 01:49 PM

K - it looks amazing!!! I have been keeping some scrap strips, I may need to try this now!!!

Ritzquilts 05-14-2010 02:15 PM

Oh can't wait for you to get the 5 done. WTG

katiebear1 05-14-2010 02:34 PM

Very pretty. I just finished one for my daughter for her B'day. I love the way it goes together so fast.

omak 05-14-2010 02:56 PM

Impressive!
From the looks of your picture, five strips is a bit of understatement - - it looks REALLY long!
Keep up the good work <g> <wave>

kwhite 05-14-2010 03:42 PM

There are 70 pieces per strip. I am aiming for 6 feet wide before boarders. (still undecided if I am putting any on). I will see what it looks like once I have the strips put on. I will put it on a bed and decide then. I think this one will be a machine quilted one.

omak 05-14-2010 10:13 PM

It will be a blast to quilt ... such a moving canvas! <wave>

sawsan 05-14-2010 10:20 PM
