roseOfsharon 05-09-2010 02:50 PM

:) Very nice so far... keep going and post when top is finished !

Ditter43 05-09-2010 03:00 PM

I love all the color in it. If you are tired of the piecing, have you considered putting solid strips between the ones you have finished? Just a thought...it would be quicker to finish that way... ;-)

KGoodhand 05-09-2010 03:05 PM

Oh there is no way you can stop now!! It is beautiful already, I can hardly wait to see it finished!!!!

redquilter 05-09-2010 03:07 PM

Keep going. It's fantastic. Do you have a pattern for it? I would love it.

LeslieSkelly 05-09-2010 03:42 PM

OH Please don't quit....it is beautiful!!!

Pam 05-09-2010 03:49 PM

Wow, everyone likes it, me included. Now you HAVE to get busy and get it done!

barnbum 05-09-2010 03:49 PM

How big is it now? How wide are the braids? It's beautiful. Besides (searching for motivational speeches) if you don't use up more scraps, you'll have to find a place for them all AND you're making room for new fabrics.

How's that?

Mundy Woodbeck 05-09-2010 04:09 PM

:) oh my gosh I love this whats the name of the patteren

Jim's Gem 05-09-2010 04:09 PM

That's beautiful!!!

sewsewquilter 05-09-2010 04:14 PM

WOW! You're just about done. What are your thoughts on the finished look? Are you going to sew them to together as they are now or are you going to add a strip between each row? I'm see a strip of black between each row to set off all of those wonderful colors. I just LOVE a scrappy. They are better than rainbows. :-)

erstan947 05-09-2010 04:18 PM

I have one in the works and yours has inspired me to finish!
love it.

colleen53 05-09-2010 04:21 PM

you have motivated me to do a scrappy.. don't let me down now.. you are my motivation.

kwhite 05-09-2010 04:55 PM

It is a simple template I found in a little outlet. it is 2 inches wide by about 4 inches long. but you really don't need a template. Cut your pieces 2 by 4 and start to sew them together. I thought about a strip in between but I think that would be a cop out after getting this far. It will be 6 foot square once done. it takes 4 strips for one foot of width.

Born2Sew 05-09-2010 05:30 PM

Keep on plugging and you'll be finished in no time. Look how far you've gone already!

Dawn Hendrix 05-09-2010 05:31 PM

OMG I LOVE IT!!!!! OOOOO you have inspired me....

sewjoyce 05-09-2010 05:50 PM

I don't think it would be a cop out to add a strip between each braid. The strip would help bring out all the different shades and patterns of each strip giving it individuality....how's that?

marsye 05-09-2010 05:51 PM

input! input!!!

Edit the peices woud be 2 X 4.5 NOT 2 X 4.

I finished another strip and now I am down to 10 to go (or 700 more peices to sew). I don't know if I even have enough cut. I will have to make a guestimate to see.

dkabasketlady 05-09-2010 06:47 PM

Only allow yourself fifteen minutes a day to work on it.
Pretty amazing how putting a limitation on yourself will whet the appetite for finishing ;-) <wave>

wvdek 05-09-2010 11:21 PM

Gal 05-10-2010 12:23 AM

I love it!! Just love scrappy!! I don't know if this will help or not but let me tell you what I have done in the past, this happened over a very large and difficult curtain project I started with my DD, who is desperate to sew the advanced stuff before she has learn't all the rules! The idea was that I would sew one curtain and she would follow and make it's pair, well to cut a long story short, a mistake was made in the estimate for the fabric, the lining I could piece, but I had to put false hems on both top and bottom to get the curtain to go anywhere near a good length! (Imagine this is expensive velvet, fully lined and all hand sewn and tripple pinch pleated)!
So many things went wrong and in the end it was down to me to sort it all out. I said to my self, I WILL GET THIS DONE! I promised myself that before I sit down to sew any of my favoured projects I will do a little on 'THOSE CURTAINS' so bit by bit I managed to unpick and resew the curtains for her, it took me a while but I made it! So what I am trying to say to you in a long winded way is just do a little bit at a time often and you will eventually get there!
Good Luck! And don't forget to post when you have put it all together, looking forward to it!

Gal
