My quilt was saved!!!

Before Christmas, I posted about a batik quilt that a highly recommended LA quilter completely messed up. The stitching was very uneven and there were huge holes from the needle. I was just sick about it because it was to have been a Christmas gift and there was no way that I could give it to anyone in the condition that it was returned to me. I don't think that I was ever so disappointed as I was when I pulled it out of the box. I did get a partial refund from the original LA but I wish now that I had pushed for a full refund.

The pictures of the truly bad stitching are here - http://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f1...d-t168970.html

Aubrey, of Aubrey's Quilting Creations took the quilt, tore it apart and washed the top and back, and re-quilted it. I'm so pleased! The quilting is gorgeous and she saved the Christmas gift for my good friend. If I look closely, I can see the holes left by the first LA quilter, but Aubrey saved it!

Wow what a difference. Great gift now.

Teddybear Lady 01-10-2012 05:48 PM

So glad it could be fixed. The first picture was unbelievable. Sorry you had deal with something like this. Your quilt looks great now.

suezquilts 01-10-2012 06:23 PM

One thing about uneven stitches, they are easy to take out! But a batik quilt is hard to get the needle holes out of, my hats off to Aubrey's Quilting creations!

cabbagepatchkid 01-10-2012 06:23 PM

Yay for Aubrey!!! That's wonderful that she was able to save it for you. It looks wonderful!! I know your friend will love it!!

Jingle 01-10-2012 06:33 PM

Aubrey sure worked miracles on that quilt. I would not send a quilt out, I don't trust anyone after it would leave my hands. I don't do great work but, it is my work. I'm glad all turned out well for you anf the quilt.
Aubrey really did a wonderful job with it.

sewnsewer2 01-10-2012 06:36 PM

Oh I'm so glad your beautiful quilt was saved!

Tweety2911 01-10-2012 06:40 PM

Great news! This quilt is a beauty and so glad it could be saved. I am so suprised that a longarmer would give you your quilt back with those huge holes and horrible quilting. Goes to show you not all quilters know what they are doing.

QuiltnNan 01-10-2012 07:11 PM

how wonderful!!!! i'm happy for you.

xsquilter 01-10-2012 07:15 PM

I just looked at the first post. Good grief, what was she using a jack hammer? It was a beautiful quilt and thankfully Aubrey saved it!

valleyquiltermo 01-10-2012 07:21 PM

So wonderful your quilt was saved. It is a beautiful quilt. Bad longarm quilters is why I bought a LA machine.

Lori S 01-10-2012 07:30 PM

What a SAVE!! It looks fantastic! I bet you were overjoyed to see this beauty in its "new" condition.

Auntie B 01-10-2012 08:08 PM

Your quilt looks great now !! And yes, sorry you had to deal with that LA girl. Perhaps a washing or two, and maybe the fabric will be more forgiving. Thanks for Posting.

MaryMo 01-10-2012 08:14 PM

So glad this story has a happy ending. Congratulations to you for your persistence and to Aubrey for being able to fix it. I do hope you are sharing your experience with other quilters in your area about the first LA's quality of work.

Born2Sew 01-10-2012 08:34 PM

Such a pretty quilt! I'm so glad Aubrey saved it for you. Excellent quilting job this time. I consider myself an amateur when it comes to the quilting part, but I can certainly do better than the long arm quilter did. I'd be ashamed to send it back to you in that condition, much less charge for it!!!! That was horrible!

Painiacs 01-10-2012 08:39 PM

That's so wonderful! I'm so glad it was fixed!! I'm sure your friend loves it!!

Cuddly Quilter 01-10-2012 09:11 PM

EXCELLENT job and thanks for coming up to help save the quilt. I can imagine the unpicking, and washing took about and if not more time than the quilting in the end. YOU ARE VERY KIND to have offered. Well done to you both

ruthie 01-10-2012 09:51 PM

What good news. I'm so glad it could be saved.

purple_butterfly 01-11-2012 01:31 AM

Looks great now . The first quilter should have given you a full refund without hesitation and without being asked!

piepatch 01-11-2012 03:40 AM

That is good news, and a great save! The quilt is very pretty, in spite of all the stress created by the first quilter.

nabobw 01-11-2012 05:47 AM

When I saw the first pictures of the first quilting, my heart just sunk for you, I could feel your pain. But the new quilting is just beautiful.

luvstoquilt 01-11-2012 08:31 AM

Happy for you! So much work to be ruined like that!

Mad Mimm 01-11-2012 08:56 AM

I am glad to hear your quilt could be saved. From the photos in the original post, I was really not sure (and still scratching my head at how ANY quilter could return that to you in the condition the LA did.) It is a lovely quilt and I am sure the recipient will cherish it. A big round of kudos to Aubrey for saving the day!!!

paulettepoe 01-11-2012 09:22 AM

Just beautiful. thanks for sharing. Am glad it was able to be saved.

stitchinbee 01-11-2012 02:04 PM

Lorraine Simon 01-11-2012 02:24 PM

I'm so happy it could be rescued. It has so much work done to it.

imdelagarza62 01-11-2012 02:30 PM

How Wonderful, miracles can happen. I glad it worked out for you, but agree I would ask for the remainder of my money back.

Gail B 01-11-2012 05:08 PM

Aubrey sure saved the day. What a wonderful quilt. Can't believe the mess the 1st LA produced.

red-warrior 01-11-2012 05:55 PM

Beautiful quilt....so glad she could save it!

joyce888 01-11-2012 05:58 PM
