What a fabulous quilt! Thanks for sharing it with us!
Absolutely gorgeous. I don't think I would like all the cutting and piecing. It sure was worth all your time spent on it.
I can't think of anything but WOW !!!
You did a wonderful job. I could never have done it
Beautiful quilt.
Looks beautiful! All that hard work definitely paid off.
This is a fantastic quilt. I am no help on the quilting, sorry. I am sure there are some very smart people on this board that can help you.
I don't think the quilting will show very much. There are no large empty spaces. n edge to edge pattern would be very. Appropriate. I think you should pick what you like. If you know an experienced L.A. Quilter I would at least ask her opinion. a clam shell, or baptist fan are good ideas too.
WOW!!! Absolutely beautiful!!!
I think the Baptist Fan would give it motion and not be overpowering.
That is amazing - beautiful colors.
I'm partial to Baptist Fan. It wouldn't fight with the pattern and it would look wonderfully old timey, if you like that effect.
Beautiful job. I love it!
Wow, simple curved quilting would be my choice, or just 1 inch diagonal lines East to west, then west to east. I would not over quilt to loose the beauty of your work. That is an amazing job. I can see how you went back and forth with it, I think I would be the same way. Good luck on your quilting choice.
It is georgeous. Would love to see big feathered wreaths.
Wow !!!!! The moment you asked for quilting ideas one popped into my head, but I'm not a quilting expert. I read through all the posts and was pleased to see others say, Baptist Fan. :D
This is a masterpiece.
That is beautiful..
Omigosh is right, that is a beautiful quilt~

Big RESPECT for you. What an achievement. I'm trying to be sort of funny here, because after reading your progress with the piecing and cutting, continue in the same way but quilt it a bit then eat chocolate and rest, quilt it a bit more then eat cake and drink tea rest, quilt some more, you get the idea? It is truly amazing well done. I wish you well whatever approach you take and please show us when it's done. It will be Quilt Board "Quilt Of The Week" I am certain.

A portrait in patience with wonderful results.

I am in awe- just beautiful!!

That is one of the most stunning quilts I have ever seen! Excellent piecing, fantastic color placement. I'm not sure I could put this one on my bucket list, lots and lots of pieces, but it sure is gorgeous!
truly a work of art,.. love it
Simply gorgeous!
Wow that is amazing.
Your quilt is amazing. I have admired this quilt one or two other times on the quilting board and yours is no exception! I'd love to make one someday, but I have more to learn on getting a better 1/4 in seam first! Congrats on a beautiful quilt!
What a beautiful quilt. Great job.
I love this quilt - and the one that inspired you. BUT I know that I will never have the patience to make one!
As for quilting suggestions, I would keep it simple so as to not draw attention away from the beautiful piecing. Maybe diagonal cross-hatching. Or even plain straight of grain-of-grain cross-hatching following the main lines of the blocks. Don't drive yourself nuts with the quilting - and, for goodness sakes, don't try to stitch in the ditch! |
It was well worth the effort...it is gorgeous!

Let's see if I an calculate them. 237 double nine patch blocks at 49 pieces each would be 11,613; plus 238 shoo fly blocks at 41 pieces each would be 9,758; Oh my gosh is right! 21,371 pieces.
