OMIGOSH - whatever was I thinking

I saw several pictures of the Omigosh quilt on this board, liked them so much that I ordered the pattern to make one for myself. Only I needed one to fit a large bed - king size. A year ago this past September I began cutting my scraps, and cutting, and cutting. I got tired of cutting so began sewin..., and sewing. Got tired of sewing so cut some more; then sewed some more. I gave up on the king size and settled for a queen, sort of, it now measures 95 inches by 125 inches. I really enjoy piecing, maybe since I quilt more than piece, but this quilt was beginning to get the best of me. Now that it is pieced, I LOVE it again! I'm looking forward to when I get it quilted. Do you have any suggestion of how it should be quilted?

what a terrific job you did.I am in awe and would have a hard time deciding on the quilting.Love it

That is so beautiful. There are so many ways you can go with the quilting, I am sure what ever you do it is going to be a beauty.

ManiacQuilter2 11-03-2013 09:50 AM

WOW, you do like to piece. It is one of the biggest and best scrappy quilts I have ever seen. Hope you know someone who excels in quilting. Whatever you choose, I would certainly make the quilting simple so that all your beautiful piecing is the main attraction.

OMG it is awesome! I have no idea how to quilt it. Maybe you can google pictures of the finished quilt and see how others have quilted theirs. You could SITD so that all you see is the pattern but that is a LOT of ditches!

lynnie 11-03-2013 09:57 AM

wow, a fantastic job, it's so pretty.

Diane007 11-03-2013 10:06 AM

Hi

I have made two of these one with a white back groud fabric and the other with a black back ground fabric
both I quilted in a curve pattern because there were so many square straight pieces

hope this helps

rootyr 11-03-2013 10:17 AM

Wow! That is awesome!

DebraK 11-03-2013 10:21 AM

Wow! Absolutely gorgeous. Well worth all your efforts. Sorry can't help with quilting pattern.

PaperPrincess 11-03-2013 10:35 AM

This is just stunning!

BeckySt 11-03-2013 10:52 AM

Wow that's a spectacular quilt, I would do an overall pattern of something.

carolaug 11-03-2013 10:57 AM

Wow...that is awesome. You could add a few borders to make it a king. You won't regret it if you have a King bed. I gave up on a few and then finally did one and so glad I did.

Kieta 11-03-2013 11:01 AM

wow, one of the best scrappy quilts i've seen. i would go with an all over meandering loop. your quilt is busy and bright so anything fussy wouldn't really show up or enhance your work. you could do some fussy quilting on borders if you like.

judy5cents 11-03-2013 11:13 AM

I know how this quilt got its name because OMIGOSH that is gorgeous and looks like it was so much work. What a fabulous quilt.

jclinganrey 11-03-2013 11:18 AM

No quilting suggestions but gee that is certainly a lot of cutting and sewing. It is going to be something special when finished.

QUILTNMO 11-03-2013 11:26 AM

MamaBear61 11-03-2013 11:54 AM

Wow, that is awesome, well done.

barny 11-03-2013 12:00 PM

I think I would just let it hang for a while and look at it for a time. Maybe then it will come to you how you want to quilt it. It is just gorgeous.

Ginny4jah 11-03-2013 12:37 PM

I love it! I love it! It is REALLY Beautiful!!!!

wolph33 11-03-2013 12:39 PM

wow-that is beautiful.show us again after quilting please

Quilter 65 11-03-2013 12:45 PM

I have always loved your quilting, but maybe you should get shut in more, because you have certainly shown some beautiful pieced work since you couldn't get out/nor others in!! I wouldn't even venture a suggestion for quilting because I know that whatever you do would far surpass anything I could suggest. Just wonderful and I agree--keep on going until it is a king. That one deserves to be the center of someone's main bedroom.

serenitybygrace 11-03-2013 12:51 PM

Awesome quilt! I'll bet cutting all those little pieces did get to you after a while. It is very colorful.

peaceandjoy 11-03-2013 12:56 PM

What a fantastic quilt! You did a great job. So lovely now, I look forward to seeing it when it's quilted!

Quiltbeagle 11-03-2013 01:02 PM

What a beautiful quilt! I can't help with a quilting pattern either, though I hope you post a photo when it's done.

Tweety2911 11-03-2013 01:21 PM

A stunning quilt! An all over design with curves would be my choice of quilting.

toverly 11-03-2013 01:32 PM

That is so beautiful! Whatever you quilt it in, it will be stunning!

Mariposa 11-03-2013 01:35 PM

This is awesome!! Sew colorful! I'd suggest quilting something fairly simple, and curvy~~

BrendaK 11-03-2013 01:40 PM

Just beautiful. I agree with barny and just hang out with it for a while. Maybe when it gets tired of hanging out it will let you know what it wants. Congratulations on getting it almost finished. You did an outstanding job on it. BrendaK

Cam's gram 11-03-2013 01:45 PM

Wow - it is absolutely gorgeous! Please post again after quilting.

Barb_MO 11-03-2013 01:47 PM

I think I would take a row or two off of the length and added it on the 95" side. It should fit a king size then, shouldn't it. Do king size really need to be 125" long?

Debbie B 11-03-2013 01:49 PM

It's beautiful! Every time I see on of these I want to make one.

debcavan 11-03-2013 01:55 PM

It is fabulous. What an accomplishment. As much as I love to do custom quilting, I am think an overall pattern, something just to blend in and not take anything away from the wonderful piecing.

coachmatthewsvhs 11-03-2013 02:26 PM

speechless....... LOVE IT!!!!! You should be proud of simply finishing it, let alone making it stunning!

paula153 11-03-2013 02:26 PM

What a beauty.....

SavedByGrace 11-03-2013 02:32 PM

Gotta tell you......my immediate reaction when I saw your picture was "Oh my gosh!". Very nice!

stitchingcrazy 11-03-2013 02:32 PM

Big RESPECT for you. What an achievement. I'm trying to be sort of funny here, because after reading your progress with the piecing and cutting, continue in the same way but quilt it a bit then eat chocolate and rest, quilt it a bit more then eat cake and drink tea rest, quilt some more, you get the idea? It is truly amazing well done. I wish you well whatever approach you take and please show us when it's done. It will be Quilt Board "Quilt Of The Week" I am certain.

Lori S 11-03-2013 02:57 PM

Oh my gosh is right! Its a real stunner! Take a bow for your work and your patience. APPLAUSE !!!

Old_Rosebud 11-03-2013 03:01 PM

Stunning quilt! I would stay away from intricate quilt patterns as your beautiful piecing should shine through first!
