a quilt and a non quilt
 

its been all about the kiddo this month.

First, William's dino quilt. I enlarged the dinos on the fabric to make the applique:

Then I made a felt card table playhouse for my friends Jack and Lily. This was supposed to be a 2 or 3 evening project that took me 10 days and I barely finished on time. But they liked it so yay!

Wow! These are fabulous! That little quilt is adorable! I love the dinos! And the play house? Too , too cute! When I was a little girl, I'd have given my eye teeth for something so awesome! Great job!

Vwry cute! I love the little house. My Granddaughter saw these pics and wants me to make her one now!

Love your dino quilt! I like that you made the dino's big. The playhouse is nothing short of amazing! Your imagination and skill are truly a gift. Since I grew up with a tree house, that's what it reminds me of only without the tree and with so much more "bling":thumbup:! What a childhood memory you've given those kids! And the little girl is so cute!

Me too!! I used to love to play in those big boxes that appliances came in. I would play in them till they were so out of shape, then they would dissappear. I loved them.

The quilt is cute but the card-table house is over the moon!!! Your didn't miss a thing. A working mailbox, a doggie door, veggie garden with bees, flower garden with butterfly, a curtained window! The final touch is the blazing fireplace and mantle with its workable vase and picture frame. What more could a kid want! Kudos to you. You will be remembered forever! Thanks for sharing and inspiring.

I didn't have a pattern, theres some tutes on the internet and someone out there sells a pattern, but I just kind of designed it and did it myself. Basically just measure the top and sides, cut your sides a little bigger than the size you need, decide what you want to use as a decoration, sew those on, then pin it together around your table, sew up the sides, and then pin a top and sew it on too. I learned the more you applique on the more the stitches pull on the felt and shrink it some. I made some of the flowers and stuff and carefully hand appliqued them on. I also learned that its almost impossible to sew felt thats been painted on. I painted on the chimney bricks and had a terrible time sewing the chimney and fireplace on...broke 2 needles and it really distorted.

But the kids really seemed to like it so its all worth it.

I would have to charge 5 million dollars per for them to make it worth all the hassle!

The problems you had with the felt, would you use regular cotton materials another time?
And then quilt it for substance?
