Or have you put flannel or terry on the one side.
What size are they?

I'm thinking I just might make some for a couple of baby gifts! Thanks for the info and idea.

Actually, these are made by just using to flannel fat quarters and no batting or terry cloth at all. The middle fat quarter (or as the pattern calls it, the "theme" fabric) is a fat quarter folded in half with the other fat quarter sewed to it. It is my guess that one could use terry fabric instead of flannel but I haven't tried it yet. I did try regular cloth fabric but it doesn't do a great job at absorbing any liquid.

Perfect! Thanks for the details!

They are so cute... i made at least a dozen for my great newphew born in March. He has a problem with reflux and was lactose intollerant, so he upchucked so very much of what he drank - so lots of burp cloths - and they came in so handy, that the new mommy begged "Please, make more!" I made mine out of flannel and are so soft and easy for baby to lay his head on and easy to wipe up little Messes.

Isn't it fun making for babies? I enjoyed it to a max.

How cute? Would you even need a pattern? And do you quilt the entire thing?

I used flannel with thin batting in the center, and did very loose machine quilting to help hold the batting in place, and I did use a pattern I got off the internet by googling burp cloths - it was free, and although I made mine a bit longer, I liked the idea of the pattern having a curve for around the neck area, so it laid flat against the one burping the baby...
