Beautiful quilts! thanks for sharing!

jojosnana 07-13-2011 10:04 AM

I love your rag quilts. My family says they are the ones you don't have to be careful with. They are always the ones in the family rooms and nurserys.....and they loved to washed over and over again......

GirlieWhirlie 07-13-2011 10:05 AM

You sew fabric together, can cover yourself with it and sleep under it...quilt! I love making these. Your's are pretty.

DebQuilter50 07-13-2011 10:47 AM

I have read many times on here that there are no quilt police. That means that we have lots of freedom for our own individual work. I plan to make a rag quilt one of these days and I do consider it a quilt.

MamaBear61 07-13-2011 10:51 AM

Lovely quilts. Rag quilts are a fun quilt to make, I have done several of them too.

caliquocat 07-13-2011 02:32 PM

I like rag quilts. I made my first one out of my sons old recieving blankets. I still have it and will give it to him when he has a child of his own one day:)

Great quilts!!!

dphelps 07-13-2011 02:51 PM

Never discount your quilting abilities. Rag quilts, as you have been told, are quilts also. You have done very nice work on the ones you have made. Be proud. You will move on to different types when you feel the need. We will all be here to see whatever you make and cheer you on.

Charming 07-13-2011 02:52 PM

Oh wow they are just beautiful. I have started collecting flannels for winter to make for my kids too. I love your choice of colors.

stichinluvr 07-13-2011 02:55 PM

What do you mean they are not "real" quilts? A quilt is whatever you enjoy making. I've made rag quilts, tied quilts, summer quilts (without anything inside) and other quilts, wall hangings and table toppers. I make quilted purses and totes. They are all welcome and we love seeing everything. Keep'em coming!

FranW 07-13-2011 03:00 PM

These are great. Real "HUG" quilts. These are perfect for curling up with!

pawebdoctor 07-13-2011 06:18 PM

a rose by any other name is still a rose! your quilts are most certainly QUILTS! Fabric, squares, pieced, backed... yep... definitely a quilt!!! Thanks for sharing! Not only are they functional... they are lovely!!!

I've made a few baby shower rag quilts using a variety of baby flannel prints.
Did you make your rag quilt using "cotton" fabric ??

QweenBee 07-13-2011 07:50 PM

Great Job, but I'm a Redskins fan sorry!!!

4EVERquilt 07-13-2011 08:05 PM

They look like real quilts to me. Those would keep the kids warm. They are all so precious!!

GwenH 07-13-2011 08:12 PM

Of course they're quilts, and very nice ones at that, thanks for sharing!

piepatch 07-14-2011 03:20 AM

Yes, a rag quilt is a "real" quilt, and yours are very pretty and colorful. I have made a lot of rag quilts as gifts, and I think they are used, and enjoyed as much as their"regular" quilts. They are a more personal size, and I can't tell you how many times I have seen the grandchildren wrap up in them on a chilly day..............and by the way, aren't they fun to make ?

DeniseB 07-14-2011 03:21 AM

your rag quilts are terrific

hopetoquilt 07-14-2011 03:26 AM

That's it. You have inspired me. I am going to start my first rag quilt today. Been meaning to do one but yours are so great that I am just going to jump in and do one!

Krystyna 07-14-2011 03:28 AM

hcarpanini 07-14-2011 03:30 AM

Have never made one but it is on my "todo" list! Love yours! Roughly, how much would you say they shrink so I know how much larger to make mine. How are the edges finished?

Sharon-OH 07-14-2011 03:35 AM

I love your rag quilts. Really like the Sesame Street one. We have new little guy coming in August and parents love Big Bird. I may try doing something like you have done. Great Job.

2 of the ones shown here have cotton tops with flannel batting and backing. The smaller ones are all flannel :)
