I was afraid to post these because I thought they would not be well received as they are not "real" Quilts. I have seen others posted recently and decided to share the ones I've made. These sparked my interest in learning to quilt. I have really learned a lot since I started making them.
This one is my daughter's This one is my son's This one was commissioned for a boys birthday. (twin size) |
a quilt is a quilt is a quilt!! Well in my opinion anyway. Doesn't matter if it is hand sewn, machine or rag... Nice job

Rag quilts are real quilts! There are dozens of folks on here who make and love rag quilts.
Yours are lovely. Don't be afraid to show your projects. The quilt police is not on the board! |
they are real quilts!! What fun quilts - I love them.
They are all awesome!!!! I think my favorite is the second pic with the butterfly fabric.
Love them. So festive. They look "real". To me. Pat

They are all wonderful!!
I love to make rag quilts. They're on display at many quilt shops. Your quilts are very pretty!!
I love making rag quilts. I give rag quilts for a baby shower presents. I made all my grandkids and my sisters grandkid one for christmas last year. And they love them.
Very cool!
Your rag quilts are great...I am making one now for a 1 year old, have made them for all the grands too, kids like them....
i've never made a rag quilt. yours are lovely. nice inspirations. :D
Nice
I love rag quilts, I have made them for all my grandchildren and great grandchildren, and they all love them. My little ones take them everywhere. I even made one for my 45 year old son because he was using my grandsons when watching TV. Yours are beautiful.
They are all great.
Love your quilts;I made one simular to the butterfly one for my niece who's going off to college.
Who says they aren't real quilts? Don't tell my 5yr old grandson that; he loves his. If the only thing in life I have to worry about it the quilt police; I say bring it on. Do what you like; do what makes you happy and if someone else doesn't like it; tell them not to look and you'll take their name off of your list of people to make quilts for.

Gorgeous - love the fabric prints and the way you laid out the prints/designs within the squares! very inspiring!
They look REAL to me! Love them! Great job on your QUILTS!
I gave a rag quilt to my daughter and son-in-law and he loves it! (so surprised me too) anyway, yours are very cute!
I think they are real quilts. I don't know where that idea ever got started about real quilts or not real quilts. Our ancestors made more utility type quilts than they ever did the "artsy" type. They were a necessity to keep their families warm. Your quilts are lovely and keep up the good work. Don't let anyone tell you what is real and what is not. If you enjoy doing them then go for it.
To me a quilt is something with duel function.......both to snuggle with and for warmth.......looks like these can do both!!! I, too sparked my passion with rag quilts.......
GREAT JOB!!! |
Beautiful, they look like real quilts to me. Be proud of the great job you did on these rag quilts. For me, if you use fabrics, cut them into shapes and dew them together, then they are real quilts, just what you did. I want to try these if and when I get time.

How in the world did you end up making a Colts quilt and a Patriots quilt???
I kid, I kid. I'm just a die-hard Colts fan and it's always jarring to see them in the same place. ;) I think your rag quilts look great! Keep sharing photos! |
They are all very nice and I would be proud to show and display them.
Quilt: bed covering made of batting enclosed between layers of fabric and kept in place by lines of stitching.
Summer Quilt: top and backing but no batting or filling. How do your lovely rag quilts not fit the above definitions? |
Adorable. I love them!

Awsome quilts! You are talented!
Thank you so much everyone. The people on this board are sooo nice :) I once read that "It's not a quilt until it's quilted," and with all of the marvelous talent being displayed on the board, I guess I was just afraid they weren't "worthy." Anyway, Thanks again!

Great collection of wonderful quilts!

GO COLTS!!! Love it!!!
They are all great. Rag quilts are considered quilts in my book!
I really like the fabrics you chose. The recipients will love snuggling under them! (And I especially like the one with the goofy monsters - I used that same flannel to make jammies for my boys!)
