It is gorgeous and bright I think black borders would frame it quite nicely and you could make them as big as you want, until you get it the size you want it to be.

I agree about the quilt. I love that it is so colorful. I'm sorry to hear that your Mom had to have chemo treatments. Is she ok now?

Could someone please explain what minky is? Thanks.

I love the colours just the way it is.

Yes, black & red borders will be awesome.

I love the colors too, and I agree that a narrow black border is called for first. However, after that, I seem to veer away from everyone else. I think anything black wider than a 2" border would be too much. Even tho I love the bright center of the quilt, for borders, I would go calmer so as not to detract from the middle. If this quilt were for me, I'd love to see the 2" black border, then a 3" medium pink border followed by a medium blue border of 4.5 or 5". A black binding would tie it all together. I would pick the pink and blue from the center of the quilt.

I've not used it yet, but my understanding of minky is this - a soft, luxurious feeling fabric with depth that is sort of like fleece but much "richer" feeling. Anyone else have a way to offer a better description; mine isn't quite right.

This is one beautiful quilt and it shows the hills and valleys that your mom feels. If it were me (and I know its not)I would not change anything. It makes me feel as if you mom's feelings are in this quilt and perhaps it is her healing "blankey" (I surely pray so) to shelter her from harm. Good luck and many prayers for your mom and for you. You are a thoughtful daughter wanted the best for you mom.

gorgeous quilt. I assume they are made with 5" charm squares. What is the name of the fabric? Do you have more squares? If you do, a narrow border in black as a 'frame' and then more of the squares around the quilt looks nice. Just my thoughts. Thanks for sharing. Eiltcoq.

The quilt is lovely as it is. Trust me it will make her smile during her treatments which is what she will need. The pattern doesn't matter at a time like that, it is the smiles that it will give your Mother. My prayers are with your Mother and you during this time.
