These quilt backs are just awesome! I especially love the children's names on them.

I have yet to make a quilt with a boring backing. When I first started I had trouble with some of the established quilters in the area - telling me I was doing it all wrong! I just chose to ignore them and did it my way. By doing the back differently - it makes the quilt more user friendly if you like. because it can be reversed - or when folded back you get a glimpse of something new and unusual. Keep at it!
Granted I've only made a handful over the past 3 years - I'm really new at it. I guess I've made 6 baby quilts for gifts and 5 queen/king size quilts as well. Goodness I really have found something I love to do. |
thanks for the idea. I have a quilt ready and can use pieces for the backing and add the squares I had left over. This will be great.

All are terrific, but I esp. like the names.
I have a couple that I pieced the back, like a strip of drunkard's path and a couple of log cabins and then big blocks of color. It is a bonus. I don't like plain backs anymore. At the very least I piece the name plate. |

I've gone in a different direction -- I bought many yards of wide bleached muslin with a coupon at JoAnn's. I don't use quilt fabric for the backs much anymore. I just keep taking pieces off of this large amount. We'll see what I do when it runs out! |
You really have made the back of your quilts very interesting. You've saved yourself some dollars all the while you were creating outstanding quilts. You Rock Girl, May in Jersey
