This is a tulip quilt that I saw in Fons & Porters Love of Quilting magazine. I think I started on it this spring. I've never done a panel quilt before. I had the purple and yellow tulip fabric. It was one of the first fabrics I purchased when I started building my stash. When I saw this quilt in the magazine, I knew I had to make it. Since I'd never done a panel quilt before, just figuring out how to buy the panel was my first challenge. I was excited to see it came in a black background since my tulip fabric also has a black background. There are 92 pieced tulips and 15 borders.

Whole quilt--Queen sized--I can't fit the whole thing in the frame!

Closer so you can see all 15 borders

I think it might be the prettiest one I've made. It's my 31st quilt. I'm going to put it on my guest room bed, and I'm going to make matching pillow cases. I found some border fabric that matches the tulip fabric--lucky me!

Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you for the breath of "spring!!" It's so nasty and snowy and cold here today, and your beautiful quilt put a smile on my face!! It's supposed to be very cold tomorrow, and I'm not looking forward to driving on the slippery roads!! All of this heavy, wet snow is going to freeze up like a giant block of ice!! YUCK!!!!! Maybe I should put ice skates on my car -- and on my feet, too!!!!! The parking lot is going to be a real mess -- it always is!!

We get ice sometimes too. I like snow, but HATE the ice. You have my sympathy. Thanks for your kind comment.

Next time it probably will. They were really a pain, and on border #15, one side gave me so much trouble. It was too long, and I went back and forth, back and forth, trying to ease it in. I should have just taken it off and measured it because, as it turns out, it was 5 1/2 inches too long! Of course, I tried sewing it on before I measured it, and I had to rip it out. THEN, I measured it and discovered the problem. Duh.

My dil loves tulips, so I hid the magazine when she came for visits! Love the quilt but, honestly, my to do list is so long already! You did a great job. The tulips really pop with those yellow centers.

I love that panel, think I could find it on the net? Of course, I wouldn't even attempt a quilt like this one but I'd love to have one of the panels to do something with.
