I like it a lot! It will look so cool! I am getting ready to make one soon!

pjustice63 02-07-2011 01:35 PM

I love it already. Do what your heart tells you. If you don't want it for yourself, give it to a charitable organization.

Debbie B 02-07-2011 01:53 PM

I'm making a tube quilt like that for my mom...it's a WIP right now. I really like your's. If you finish it how will you quilt it?

mommamac 02-07-2011 03:54 PM

finish 2 more then play with the blocks until they suit your fancy - this will make an adorable baby quilt.

kajaza 02-07-2011 04:11 PM

I like it!! i agree that you should keep going it may grow on you!!

grandmajuki 02-07-2011 04:17 PM

I don't like scrappy either but I'm also going to try one of these because it's the only scrappy I'd try... try turning the squares so all the white match up... I think you'll like it then... and post another pic...

Your's is beautiful!! I can't get mine to look like that.. I did rework the layout and Missy B had to hold them down for me (it's windy here) so she's making sure they don't blow away.

How many are you able to cut out once your tube is made? I can only do 6

tabletopper idea maybe??

I was only able to get 6 also, I just made more and mixed them up, it seems to work okay once it is pieced.

Butterflyblue 02-07-2011 07:35 PM

I agree with others who have said sashing might help it look less busy. I like it, but I like scrap quilts, and have a higher "busy-ness" tolerance than you do. :)

hperttula123 02-07-2011 07:37 PM

it's cute!!!

FranW 02-07-2011 07:42 PM

This is exactly what I like! Keep going, you can always "gift a hug" when you are finished.

Lady Shivesa 02-07-2011 07:52 PM

Ooooh, it's so pretty though!!

jdiane318 02-07-2011 08:36 PM

The strip tube method has been a time-saving, quilt making project for me. I love them. Looks like you really did a lot of work, when in fact, you didn't. It looks complicated and complex at the same time. The first one I made out of batik remnants and scraps, did it in one day and everyone loved it. For me, it was a great way to use my 'fugly' fabric and no one cares.

adirondackgrl76 02-07-2011 08:55 PM

Don't quit on this one. I have not yet attempted a scrappy as I am afraid that I will do the same thing - scrap it! I am currently doing the FMQ on a scrappy that my grandmother pieced. She is turning 81 at the end of this month and has just lost her vision in one eye so I offered to quilt two of her tops for her. I was hating it at first, but the more I work on it, the more I appreciate it. Keep going, I like it so far can't wait to see it done!

1barron 02-07-2011 09:01 PM

I did something similar as a present for my mom. I'm like you and thought it was really busy. However, I gave it away. The next on that I made was 2 colors only and that one I really liked however, I gave it as a present also. I vote to finish it. If you don't like it, there is always someone who would love to have it.

raedar63 02-08-2011 01:49 AM

I think it is very pretty. If you aren't feeling it just sell it as a WIP I am sure someone here will grab it up!

thenonnielady 02-08-2011 02:50 AM

I like it. Nice quilt

K.P. 02-08-2011 03:00 AM

If you really don't like it, I'd be willing to buy it from you, fabric and all; I love, love love scrappy and your fabric choices. You can PM me with details if interested.

theresa.redington 02-08-2011 03:50 AM

looks like your cat agrees with this layout. this one does look better that the first, so don't scrap it, finish it. :o)

smagruder 02-08-2011 03:51 AM

This is going to be a gorgeous quilt.... keep working on it. I really do like it.

calicocat 02-08-2011 04:20 AM

once this is done it is going to be beautiful.

4girlsmimi 02-08-2011 05:30 AM

Don't stop! It is going to be very pretty! By the way, I love scrappy so if you don't like it when it's finished, you can send it my way! :D

#1piecemaker 02-08-2011 05:35 AM

I like it!! I don't see a thing wrong with it. It will be so pretty finished. Go for it girl. Keep sewing. If you still don't like it, PM me for my address. Seriously. things have a way of taking on a whole new look once they are sewn together. You'll change your mind.

iamLaura 02-08-2011 05:38 AM

What's not to like. Finish and it will be lovely. All pieced tops become masterpieces once finished.

Rachelcb80 02-08-2011 05:44 AM

I'm really not comfortable with scrappy either but I like what you've laid out so far. I wouldn't toss it out just yet. Seems like with every quilt I've made so far it goes through a time period where I'm thinking I don't like it. A few have stayed there even when completed but most of them I end up liking. :) Stick with it!

brendadawg 02-08-2011 05:55 AM

You can send it to me! I think it's lovely. So cheery.

Zephyr 02-08-2011 05:59 AM

The ones I don't like go to charity. And sometimes ones I make for charity....I'd like to keep.

jeanneb52 02-08-2011 06:11 AM

LOVE IT! Just put it aside for a bit and perhaps you will like it later.

gmaybee 02-08-2011 06:24 AM

I do samples for a quilt store that I teach at and sometimes I have a hard time doing them because they are fabrice that I wouldn't choose if it was for me. I remember working on a quilt the had bali strips ( I love batiks) and I didn't like it the whole time I was doing it. After I sent it in and they sent it to the long arm quilter and hung it in the store it looked fabulous. The quilting really made the difference. Don't give up as each stage will change the appearance of it.

judi wess 02-08-2011 06:25 AM

Please, please, please, continue with what you have started. I like what you have done so far, so much, the colors remind me of ice cream on a hot summer day. It is so hard to step out of our comfort zone. Whenever I feel like you feel about this one, I step back and tell myself that every piece looks so much better when sewn together and then pressed. If you still don't like it when it is ready to quilt, PM me and I will take it off your hands.

Nolee 02-08-2011 06:25 AM

You sure inspired me with this quilt. I would never have thought of putting so much white into a strip quilt but it will now be my next project. It's just lovely and I'll bet you have inspired others too.

grangerist 02-08-2011 06:28 AM

I agree . I think if she just rearranges the blocks it will be more likable.

grangerist 02-08-2011 06:30 AM

Rearrange your blocks. Stand back and look. I think you will like it better if rearrange.

PamQuilts 02-08-2011 06:38 AM

I think it looks very pretty and I think it would be beautiful once it's finished! :)

Dkm 02-08-2011 06:44 AM

I don't do scrappy either, but decided to try the tube quilt. I really didn't care for it at all. I finally decided to give it for a Christmas gift. I made another quilt that I really liked the pattern "Illusion". Gave the gifts and one said " My sister got the pretty one". Well that lead me to ask "which one was that". You guessed the tube quilt. Finish it and if you still don't like it give it away. Just not to family, they make comments. LOL

It is food to go outside the box sometimes. I did this Summer in the Park quilt all in oranges and loved it so much I did a purple on. Isn't Missouri Star the best? Even if you don't like it make it into a wall hanging or a mat for the table and give it as a gift...It is a beautiful summer piece...

Summer in the Park...really autumn

I love it also. Lately, I've been gravitating towards pastels. I find them soothing. I've always been a bright person.

Confederate Rose 02-08-2011 06:50 AM

I love scrappy. It's Beautiful to me! I would take it in a heart beat!

champagnebubbles 02-08-2011 06:55 AM

I am with "the don't stop gang"

katlady 02-08-2011 07:10 AM

That is very pretty, you have controled the colors very well, it does not look scrappy to me.
