Don't give up on that wonderful Hello Betty fabric from Moda! It's one of my favorite fabric lines and I think this quilt will be awesome when you finish it!

Joan Gaddis 02-08-2011 07:46 AM

i think it is really pretty and can't wait to see the finished quilt!!

Peggyinno 02-08-2011 08:02 AM

I think you should keep going! This is going to make a BEAUTIFUL quilt

QuiltQtrs 02-08-2011 08:16 AM

Finish it ... add a coordinating border, and you have a beautiful project.

Hey, fiber artist. I love your Sheltie pup - how old is it. I've had Shelties for over 30 yrs and love them to pieces.

mom2boyz 02-08-2011 08:19 AM

I also think this scrappy quilt will be beautiful. I'm starting to really like a lot of white in a quilt. Please finish and then post.

Nanalulu 02-08-2011 09:24 AM

I love the block. What about adding sashing between blocks?

IDquilter 02-08-2011 09:42 AM

Love it!! don't you dare stop, keep going it is perfect, love the white and colors are perfect. Can't wait to see it finished. If you still don't like it, send it my way LOL.

Mundy 02-08-2011 09:47 AM

that is very nice, I only wish my scrappy would turn out that good you may send it to me

trolleystation 02-08-2011 10:36 AM

Wonderful soft colors. Please do not 'ditch' this quilt.

So I thought I'd make this, and I don't like it. Is this how it's supposed to look?
I'm about ready to scrap this one too!

Don't scrap it!! It is beautiful!

Homespun 02-08-2011 11:13 AM

I like it.

How about rearranging the blocks to where they are all the same? Like all the ones with the little green tips in the same block? It will almost look like those spinning table toppers that some of the quilters have been making.

Or, have one half of the block one piece of fabric? A solid or tone on tone. Then try playing around with the blocks.

I agree to rearranging the blocks and matching up same strips. I've already started my second one. Don't give up.

Picklelady 02-08-2011 12:42 PM

what pattern did you use for this?? I think I'm going to try one! Please let me know.

thanks

KSue 02-08-2011 12:47 PM

Go ahead and finish it. It will look great once done. I like scrappy.

Tweety2911 02-08-2011 01:40 PM

Keep going, it is looking great! I bet you will be thrilled with the finished project.

arline423 02-08-2011 03:10 PM

If you really don't care for this quilt top (which I happen to think is quite nice), why don't you consider swapping your blocks with someone else for yardage? Seems like a win-win to me. Just a suggestion - not meant to influence you. Thanks.

MOMBASIL53 02-08-2011 03:20 PM

Oh Don't stop it is beautiful.........love it.

I'm actually working on my first tube quilt. I'm also playing around with the layout. It is actually scrappy. I've used different pink, yellow and green prints. This is what I'm leaning towards right now. Wonder how many times I will change my mind!

Iamquilter 02-08-2011 04:50 PM

I love your quilt , don't stop now.

Rusty's Mama 02-08-2011 05:26 PM

I like it, but then I do like scrappy quilts. I like the fabric you've used.

pamesue 02-08-2011 05:30 PM

I think it is going to be very pretty...it has a soft look to it...not busy at all.

Gram 02-08-2011 05:43 PM

I don't do scrappy either, but that is so cute. One day I will get brave and try it. I hope it turns out as good as that. :D

That looks wonderful just like that.

So pretty! Maybe all the compliments will help you like it more. Otherwise, finish it and give away to charity. Someone will just adore it, and then you will feel good about it.

Taughtby Grandma 02-08-2011 06:07 PM

Try seperating the blocks on the floor to see if you like them better with sashing between them?

Latrinka 02-08-2011 06:16 PM

i like it- not much help tho huh?!

dove 02-08-2011 06:19 PM

i always seem to go through this...keep plugging along and i think you will see the beauty of your work in the end...i'm wondering if a dark blue border will compliment it...in any case, i really like it:-)

Lucky Lindy 02-08-2011 06:35 PM

I like it a lot, sorry that it's hard for you.

bonitagaye 02-08-2011 06:41 PM

Don't give up on it....if you decide you absolutely do not want it...somebody on this board might like to finish it! Especially someone that does charity quilts!

stitchingcrazy 02-08-2011 06:44 PM

I agree with the suggestion of rearranging like blocks together. This would may be satisify your need for regularity yet would still be a scrap type quilt top. I know how you feel, it's probably a bit outside your comfort zone. I think the OBW is lovely, soft and just right for a little one.

GypsyRse1 02-08-2011 07:05 PM

It's beautiful and you say it's busy but I say it's very calming...good job

Jingle 02-08-2011 07:28 PM

I think it looks great. I hope you finish it.

Charming 02-08-2011 07:34 PM

you could do the tube strips as 2-3 different strips sewn with one matching or coordinatind fabric that has the two colors of the other two tubes.
Let's say you picked a strip of pink and strip of yellow sew them together then right side with one strip of a matching color (which would be 4 1/5"), and that will minimize the colors in quilt.

Sorry for not being able to explain it any better, but let me know if you need further explanation.

good luck

butterflywing 02-08-2011 07:49 PM

re-arrange them into a zigzag and see if you like it better. i know what you mean. i'm a control freak, too.

mgause 02-08-2011 07:56 PM

I think it's very pretty.
I think I hear it begging to be finished.

madamekelly 02-08-2011 08:01 PM

Maybe turn a few of your blocks and letting the matching colors touch? That could help you like it, maybe?

jackied 02-08-2011 08:02 PM

Keep going. You will be pleased you did!

annette1952 02-08-2011 08:07 PM

I really like it! I think once you put it together & it is quilted then you will love it. If you don't love it then you have a Christmas gift finished. Usually (for me anyway) quilting it makes a huge difference so don't throw it away.

You could make more so that your blocks do match, like the one half block in the front there. Perhaps you will find that more to your taste. I do see that you have 4 like sections in some of the pieces. Give matching them up a try and see if you don't find that more to your liking.
