First off, I don't do scrappy so this is so hard for me. I tried something totally different yesterday and quit after 2 blocks. It was just to "busy" for me..
So I thought I'd make this, and I don't like it. Is this how it's supposed to look?
I'm about ready to scrap this one too!

To busy for me yet again!

Please don't scrap this one! lol
IMHO I think this will be beautiful when finished. :)

T-Bones mom 02-07-2011 09:44 AM

I think it is beautiful. It is not a real busy scrappy. I think you might like it if you give it a chance, IMHO. lol

Bluebonnet Sue 02-07-2011 09:46 AM

Don't STOP!!! It's darling. And, when it's finished, you can send it to me...COD. No, really, it's going to be very pretty when it's completed. Keep going...

AlienQuilter 02-07-2011 09:48 AM

I think they are pretty too!

How about rearranging the blocks to where they are all the same? Like all the ones with the little green tips in the same block? It will almost look like those spinning table toppers that some of the quilters have been making.

Or, have one half of the block one piece of fabric? A solid or tone on tone. Then try playing around with the blocks.

brenda21 02-07-2011 09:48 AM

I think it's really pretty :)

greensleeves 02-07-2011 09:49 AM

I think its great, finish it. It might not be your taste but you can always give it away. I know a lot of people would be happy to receive a quilt this beautiful.

kriscraft99 02-07-2011 09:49 AM

I think it is going to be gorgeous! Please don't stop :D

Fiber Artist 02-07-2011 09:49 AM

BizzieLizzie 02-07-2011 09:51 AM

Oh no! Don't scrap it. It is looking lovely. Give it time to grow on you. Perhaps take a break and come back after a day or two? It will be a lovely quilt. It is looking really nice already. I really do like it. :D:

nativetexan 02-07-2011 09:51 AM

you could match them more but it looks like you only have 3 of each. so scrappy it is.

erstan947 02-07-2011 09:52 AM

You could also use a sashing between blocks that would make it less busy. This is my kind of quilt! I love it!:)

bdship 02-07-2011 09:53 AM

I think it's going to be lovely, and if you still don't like it when it's finished, I'll give you my address !
I really love how looks so far.

sueisallaboutquilts 02-07-2011 10:09 AM

To me it doesn't look too busy. But that's just me! I love it :D

cjomomma 02-07-2011 10:20 AM

I'm a lover of scrappy and I think it fabulous. You might like it more after you finish it, if not then donate it.

Quiltbaby 02-07-2011 10:21 AM

I think this is great. Please do stop the colors are pretty. Keep going, you will be glad you did.

ccb2200 02-07-2011 10:23 AM

I like it. When you get it done and put a border on it I think you will like it.

pocoellie 02-07-2011 10:26 AM

I thinks it's very pretty. What is it that you don't like? Colors, block, etc?

rootyr 02-07-2011 10:28 AM

I love it. Keep on going!

ann clare 02-07-2011 10:46 AM

I would use narrow sashing if you are not happy. I love it.

FancyFoot 02-07-2011 10:48 AM

I think you've got some pretty blocks going on there, but since you are not liking them, I think all you have to do is rearrange the blocks and you will probably change your mind and really like them. Maybe you could do a search on the forum or elsewhere and see the different way they are arranged, and get some ideas..........but don't scrap your pretty quilt !

quiltsRfun 02-07-2011 10:54 AM

I like it. Put it away for awhile. Maybe when you come back to it you'll have a different opinion.

DAWNROBIN 02-07-2011 10:56 AM

With all the colors that you pick and choose this one is so pretty. Please keep working on, this you'll be amazed what you will find when your done!

susiequilt 02-07-2011 11:07 AM

Work on it for shorter periods of time and you might be able to tolerate it enough to get it done! I have the same problem but I'm working on getting more scrappy.

Laura22 02-07-2011 11:12 AM

I think it is lovely, it looks perfect so far :)

melslove 02-07-2011 11:17 AM

Oh, i love it, i think you should finish it!!!

Crafty Lady in WA 02-07-2011 11:26 AM

i don't think it's busy. i personally like it

moonwork42029 02-07-2011 11:33 AM

I think it looks rather delicate and summery. Would be a great surprise for a young lady

EIQuilter 02-07-2011 11:34 AM

I have a hard time with scrappy, too. I have a friend who makes beautiful scrappy quilts, but it seems that when I try . . . well, they just don't look as good. Maybe what you need to do is make it a more organized scrappy top.

First, take the 2nd block in the top row and turn it so that the floral triangle is in the center. Then make another block like that one and switch it with the 1st block in the 2nd row. You'll end up with four blocks that look more "planned" than scrappy.

Do the same thing with the rest of the blocks. Move your current blocks around so that you have three of each that match. Put them together; make a fourth block that matches each set of three and see if you start liking them a little bit better.

You might want to try it with just two or three sets to begin with - that way, if you still can't make yourself like it, you're not out a lot.

jaymemade 02-07-2011 11:36 AM

I like it!

M.I.Late 02-07-2011 11:46 AM

It is soooo hard to finish something you aren't into. "It will be pretty when it's done. But if you truly don't like it - at least finish enough blocks to make the quilt. Offer the blocks here for the cost of time and material and done! Move on a get something new to work on...

I really like it and think you'll like it better after you piece it together. Here is one I am working on so you can get a better idea of what it will look like. (hope this posts)

SuzyQ 02-07-2011 12:19 PM

I think it's very pretty. You could always put it away for a while and pull it out later. I've found that my tastes have changed over time and some things I didn't really like are appealing to me now.

Juliebelle 02-07-2011 12:37 PM

I like it think it will be great once done.

QM 02-07-2011 12:47 PM

I like it, but it's your quilt, so you are the person who needs to like it. Perhaps you would like it better if each fabric set were its own block.

If you set it aside for a bit and still don't like it, you could use it for backing another quilt.

dyer804 02-07-2011 12:53 PM

Very cute prints! Maybe play with the blocks a bit trying different arrangements. Would arranging them in groups of four and putting sashing between the groups organize it more for you? If you still don't like it, finish it quickly and give it to charity! Good luck!

xsquilter 02-07-2011 01:01 PM

I would love to see it finished as well. I think you're off to a great start but I do understand about difficult it is to finish something you don't like. Maybe walk away from it for a while? then see what you think?

I think this is very pretty---don't give up on it. But I do understand that we don't all like to do the same thing.
