Great dresses, great job.
Nice job!!!!!
They are very cute. And I am opposite to you, after 20 years of theater costuming, I don't ever want to see a garment only quilts.
I love those dresses! Will show them to my daughter. She's been complaining that she can't find any nice summer dresses that fit.
And I've been telling her that, being short, she really does need to learn to sew. |
cute dresses on a pretty girl! Good work; I used to sew most all clothing for myself and my 2 daughters; they grew up and no longer wanted "home made" stuff and I pretty much live in jeans and knit shirts now that I am retired. Would like to see a photo of the quilt in these photos---looks like a red and cream color..
So cute! They will kep you cool in the summer heat.
The dresses are just beautiful!

nice dresses and nice red quilt

Great job and it is a pattern that most early sewers would not do well on.
Such pretty dresses and you are such a lovely lady.
They have a 70's look about them - flower power etc. Very nice for summer.
Really cute dresses for a really beautiful girl! The best part? No-one else has one like it:-)
Very cute dresses and you make the perfect model!

Rachel,
Your dresses are fabulous. You chose styles that flatter you and fitted them well. I also see some upscale touches that make them very unique. You will be living in these and looking good every time you do. About zippers, some advice from an old home ec major. I hated the way my zippers turned out so I turned to a technique I learned in my tailoring class. It's called hand-picked zipper. Here's a tute:http://www.threadsmagazine.com/item/...rth-the-effort This technique is just as fast as machine zipper application, can be done with reqular thread and is every bit as strong as machine installed zippers. It won't show much on your prints but it can be a fashion statement on solids. BTW, on the tute; ignore those beads. Don't they know people lean back! Nice job! |
I love these dresses. I'll have to look for these patterns myself.
Those are both beautiful and look like they fit you perfectly! Love the fabrics you chose, especially the floral!

That is exactly what I thought! Thanks everyone for the compliments! Being able to sew garments gives me much of the same satisfaction as when I first learned to can. I can do something that's useful and neccessary. That's a great feeling. :) Large bust. Even made my bathing suits. Best compliment is, "Oh, where did you buy that?" And you'll never see yourself competing with anyone else in the same dress. |
Nice dresses, good job.
Beautiful dresses and it looks like they fit perfectly. You are a very talented lady! Thanks for sharing.
very pretty dresses and model too

Your dresses are very pretty, and on you they are Terrific!!
I sought advice from a seamstress, and here is how I tackle that issue now: "Machine baste the seam closure using the longest stitch possible, next lay the zipper on the backside along that closure with the zipper teeth down the seam line, and then HAND BASTE the zipper on the very outside edge of the zipper. The seamstress told me that it is very important to stitch DOWN ONE SIDE, then to stitch UP the opposite side." (Apparently this was the problem). After that advice my zippers always look great. I hope this helps you. |
Very Pretty, a great style for you.
