UPDATE!! On I Hate This Quilt

3 Attachment(s)
Ya'll might remember my previous post about the quilt top I hated. Well, I took it all apart, turned the blocks, added more navy, then a red band because I didn't think the two navy's matched. Well, I really like it now. Now, if our new long arm will get here so my dh can quilt it. Yes, he wants to be the one to do the honors, after he practices a bunch :). The first pic is the before and the second is the after thanks for looking

I agree that the second version is more appealing!

FURBALLS 05-14-2015 02:46 PM

Very nice. I like both versions, but the second one I like the best.

Dina 05-14-2015 02:57 PM

Wow, you went to a lot of work to take the first apart, but your results are astonishing. Beautiful. (I have to admit that I like the first one too though....) But, the second really does look better...

I do like the second version better, but I would not have said no to the first, either.

helou 05-14-2015 03:06 PM

that's a lot of work. I have to agree with you as I like the second one better. Nice job and how patient and determined you have been.!

Homespun 05-14-2015 04:33 PM

The first one is just ok...the second one is snazzy!

Monika 05-14-2015 04:37 PM

Great job! That is quite an improvement and I wouldn't have said it needed improvement. I like the first one, but LOVE the final!

barny 05-14-2015 04:51 PM

I love the 2nd one too. You must have a lot of patience. But it paid off. My husbands "motto" is never give up.

yngldy 05-14-2015 05:24 PM

Wow! What a difference! I like #1, but #2 is really striking.

FabStripper 05-14-2015 05:24 PM

LOVE your 2nd version. Sorry you had to put all that work into this but I love it now and think it was worth the trouble. It has an all new look doesn't it.

busy fingers 05-14-2015 11:25 PM

Well done on staying with it and not letting it end up a UFO. A lovely result.

Babs194068 05-15-2015 02:22 AM

Great job in changing the quilt top. I can see why you love it now......

twinkie 05-15-2015 03:07 AM

I like both designs. I would have been happy with either one. Love the colors.

quilterpurpledog 05-15-2015 04:42 AM

Great save. It is a lot of work to redo something but it saves a lot of money because it is not wasted and it ives a sense of satisfaction to know that you completed a difficult chore-taking it apart. I will be anxious to see how your DH quilts it.

Jingle 05-15-2015 05:11 AM

Both are beautiful, I do like the 2nd way the best.

Sharonquilts 05-15-2015 06:12 AM

All that extra work paid off. I really like your "remake" better.

Jordan 05-15-2015 06:17 AM

I think your quilt was worth all the effort to tear apart and redo. I really like the #2 quilt. Beautiful

You had the right idea and it shows in the final photo. Great finish.

northern lass 05-16-2015 02:57 AM

I think both versions are lovely. Must have taken you ages to pull the first version apart.

Actually, it didn't take all that long to take it apart. I took it with me and worked on it while my dh was at physical therapy. He has lots of appointments where I have to just sit and wait. Wasn't going to waste the opportunity to make the best use of my time. It's also a great way to start conversations with others in the waiting room.

luvstoquilt 05-16-2015 03:45 AM

I like both but I agree with everyone else...the second one is really outstanding.
