Valentine Candy

5 Attachment(s)
I always cut up my leftover fabrics into 2.5" (candy) squares, and I like to think up ways to use them.

It has been fun participating in some "candy" swaps to get thousands of different fabrics. The current swap is in this thread: https://www.quiltingboard.com/member...p-t285320.html. I didn't join this year, but hope to next year if they have it.

SheriR taught us how to make little dresden blocks from "candy" squares in last year's swap. I used them in the top and bottom of this quilt to make it longer. Thank you SheriR! Edit by moderator: SheriR's tut is here: https://www.quiltingboard.com/tutori...g-t300467.html

Since the main blocks are heart shapes, I thought it was appropriate to name the quilt "Valentine Candy."

This is just gorgeous. I am in another swap now but would love to join this next year if it's held.

Thanks! :) Yes it is my pattern... I was thinking about doing a tutorial on the Valentine Candy block if there was interest.

Here is a link to what SheriR taught us about making the Dresdens:

https://www.quiltingboard.com/member...274596-25.html

She shared how to do them on posts: 971, 972, 974, 975, 1105, 1106, 1107, and 1108
Edit by moderator: SheriR posted a tut for the candy dresdens here: https://www.quiltingboard.com/tutori...g-t300467.html

Looks lovely on your bed! I never thought about making 2.5 inch squares, may have to rethink that!

Absolutely gorgeous.

Jingle 11-03-2017 07:23 PM

Absolutely beautiful, might work with 2-1/2" scraps. I use 2-1/2" scrap strips in other ways.

Gosh JENN, It took me a bit to find these posts and here you have them already!! You're the best. I think it's so cool you used our tutorial on your quilt. The little Dresden's finish your candy quilt so sweetly. Again, great job!

I am having trouble finding the posts listed above for making the Dresden block. How do I go about searching for the posts? Thank you!

sinceresissy 11-04-2017 02:19 AM

Great looking quilt. I cut my left overs into 2-1/2" squares too so your quilt would be a good way to use some of them or hopefully a lot of them.

Oh I love my giraffe lamp too! I've owned it for 45 years, and it still makes me smile when I look at it. :)
