oh no, it's beautiful. definite contrast and it works well.
WOW!!! These quilts are BOTH lovely!
BUT - as you ask (and not becasue these quilts are not great!) - I would consider the scales of the fabrics you choose, in any project I try to combine large florals (or prints) with smaller designs and plains, plaids, dots, marble blenders etc. I do also like to add a bit of variety and I add a fabric that includes a second colour like a multi coloured print which features blue, to a lesser or greater extent. Keep up the great work - love the quilts!!! |
Are you crazy??????? These are BOTH beautiful and have TONS of WOW!!!!! Good job!
WOW!!!!I love the first one the most.Beautiful!
Your quilts are beautiful, but I think I know what you mean about
the "wow" factor. I think it is not so much a "wow" it's just that they don't "pop" Jinny Beyer has an excellent video on you tube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9xV73VpccA If anyone knows how to get that "wow" factor it's her. I think every quilter should watch it twice. She does know her colors. JMHO. |
I agree with everyone else on here.....WOW They are beautiful.
Both are very nice!!

WOW I really like them!! You did a great job on them!! They are both very beautiful. I'll take them and give them a good home if they upset you that much.(hee hee hee) I like the blue on blue.
Job well done. |
i dont see anything wrong with them !!
Thanks to all for the compliments. THANK YOU for the helpful hints. I quess it was like the saying I could not see the forest for the trees. LOL But that was it, the roses was all almost the same size. THANKS AGAIN a big help.
You did nothing wrong! It looks lovely and I think the contrast is great.
I think they both look great!
They both are Beautiful!
I think it has a WOW factor to it ! Love the blues....
I think they are both nice and I like blue. The first one might show more interest if the dark blue floral and the light blue floral were a different scale from each other instead of both being large scale. The second one might look different if the dark floral fabric and the white fabric were switched. That would give it more contrast and separation.
I think they turned out Great.
Don't you just hate when people say What Did I Do Wrong? and you look at the pics and the quilt is just beautiful? Bunch of Show Offs!!! LOL (Just Kidding)!!! My best quilts should look as good as your goof ups. Does that make sense? Anyway, love the colors and design.
my dd had a look an want one like it ,i said i dont think so after seein yours sure couldnot make one so nice
I love the color and the florals. blue just happens to be my favorite color. Great Job.
It is beautiful, I do like the second better, it seems to separate the fabrics better, with the same colored flowers it did run together a bit. I think if the dark blue had something other than the large flowers of the same color, it would have been fine.

I think they look great!

In terms of a wow factor, think about using additional colors. Blue is calming in practically all of its incarnations, and especially in florals, so using all blues and whites pretty much guarantees a calm quilt. I always offset blue fabrics with pink fabrics to add a little dynamic "tension". You might look to add pink florals to your stash, and also fabrics that have both pink and blue flowers (so you have some transition fabrics to work with). It seems to me that many of your florals are of large flowers in one color. Try adding in some smaller sized florals, and also some non-floral fabrics for variations in texture. For example, even if you wanted to stick with all blues, some ocean blues and sky blues would add a lot of textural variation. |
I love both of them, the one on the bed is especially stunning!
When working with florals you need to consider how much background shows. When flowers are spaced far apart, the individual 'square' can sometimes look like it is a totally different fabric and changes the 'look' of the design. And, as someone has already said, change the scale ... mix small, medium and large. Add in a little tone on tone. Not everything can be a 'star'. Some fabrics need to be the supporting actress! Although it may not be what you were expecting, I think what you created on the bed looks like a very unique, original quilt instead of a 'cookie cutter' trip around the world! Hey, you're a designer and didn't know it! |
Your quilt is beautiful. The effect is warm, soothing and inviting.
I love it. |
absolutely gorgeous, be proud and enjoy them
I don't know but I think they are both great. I would take either one of them and be proud to show them off.
It is a great quilt and you did a great job. The only thing I can think of is that perhaps adding another color other than blue may give it the wow factor. Maybe a blue with some pink in it might work. I don't know if it would work or not but a jolt of another color may perk it up a bit. Just a suggestion as I like it the way it is now.
I do like them both - I think I would just have used smaller prints in it. That might be what is irking you. Having said that - I do like them.
If you don't like it, I'm sure you will be able to find happy homes for them both ;) |
Wrong??? I don't see anything wrong. I think they are both very beautiful. You did a great job.
Hey, I like them both.
I have to say WOW...I think it's beautiful!

She consistently comes up with Wow! quilts using fabrics I would never have considered purchasing, much less combining into a quilt. I still haven't figured out how she does it....... |
They sure look beautiful to me!!
I love them they look great
I really don't know what your seeing, but I'm seeing wow and wow :-D
I think they look wonderful. Great job
I think they look great. I don't see anything wrong with either. For a big POP you could have put in one color other than blue, like yellow, green or something contrasting.
It looks very nice. But I think what happened is that the florals are too large scale to give it a graphic punch. But they look 'water colory' and that's still lovely. Next time, use fabrics that are one or 'read' as one color for more contrast. That said, this quilt is very beautiful as it is!
I think they both look great !!! Absolutely love the first one.
