I made this trip around the world quilt top but it did not turn out as the great quilt top it should have. I made a second one thinking that by seperating the florals thinking that would fix it. But they did not turn out with a wow factor as this fabric should have been. Any info on working with florals would be greatful.

WOW! I love them. Both look just great to me. Job well done IMO.
It looks to me there is a WOW factor, you are to hard on yourself, they are both beautiful quilts. Love the colours. Well done :)
They look good to me
I like blue and I love blue roses Sometimes what we visualize in our heads doesn't look as awesome in real life. Both quilts are really pretty. |
Thank you. I guess they just look to busy to me. I had better get use to it. Have a lot of floral fabric. LOL
These are great.
sorry. not seeing the problem. can you isolate what you don't like about it?
OMG - I can see your delima.....no other choice but to get rid of them. I'll do you a favor and take them off your hands so just box them up and pm me and I will send you my address. lol
No, I think they are both gorgeous quilts and would be proud to have either one. Great job! |
They are both beautifully done!
It caught my eye WOW factor check! Love the colors very cool!
They both look great to me... I think you did a wonderful job on both of them.. :)

These are beautiful quilts!
In terms of a wow factor, think about using additional colors. Blue is calming in practically all of its incarnations, and especially in florals, so using all blues and whites pretty much guarantees a calm quilt. I always offset blue fabrics with pink fabrics to add a little dynamic "tension". You might look to add pink florals to your stash, and also fabrics that have both pink and blue flowers (so you have some transition fabrics to work with). It seems to me that many of your florals are of large flowers in one color. Try adding in some smaller sized florals, and also some non-floral fabrics for variations in texture. For example, even if you wanted to stick with all blues, some ocean blues and sky blues would add a lot of textural variation. Or, consult with my sister. She consistently comes up with Wow! quilts using fabrics I would never have considered purchasing, much less combining into a quilt. I still haven't figured out how she does it....... |
I think your quilt is beautiful!! Nice work!
Since you asked, I think the styles of the fabrics are too close to each other. A stripe, plaid or some other geometric would have done a lot for either quilt. If you can afford to have them longarm quilted, a lot of feathering would do wonders for them.
I forgot to add, you did a really nice job on them! |
You did a beautiful job.
Prism99 has the same ideas that I would give also. I usually use 8 or 9 fabrics, but we all have our own preferences which is great! Keep up the good work! |
They are quite pretty!
You did well with both quilt tops. I think on your first one, the colours didn't stand out, but by putting the white around the trips has separated the colours, and it looks great. Well done.
WOW ! WOW! They are both beautiful. My WOW factor must definitely differ from yours :) LOL gramqlts, guess it was worth a try huh !
Love them both and wow wow for the both of them. I think soemtimes when you work on a quilt you get saturated with the fabric. Maybe if you lay it aside and you look at it again you can see what we see.
I'm lost I don't see anything wrong with either one of them.
The are both beautiful. You did a nice job on both of them. If you want to send them to me and I'll take care of them for you. Blue is my favorite color. |
They are both beautiful and you did a wonderful job!
I think both tops are beautiful.
I agree with what ScissorQueen said about maybe using different print sizes and a geometric or a stripe would add more interest. I would've done mine in purples and greens, just my preference. :-D In the picture of this quilt top, you can see that I used different sizes of prints + a tone on tone stripe. http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/...45965719DisykU |
I think you did a fabulous job, both quilts are beautiful. However, if I had to actually pick one, the first one is my favorite...the WOW factor just jumped out at me!
You did a wonderful job. It looks so peaceful and will look great on any bed.

The say don't say wow to me. They say - very beautiful, peaceful and cozy. Just what a bed quilt should say. I love them!!!!
Looks good to me!
I think that sometimes quilting is like cooking. By the time we're done with our big beautiful dinner, we can't really Taste it. The next day we're surprised at how really yummy the leftovers are. Maybe if you put the quilts away for a while, you will appreciate their beauty when you take them out again. i.e., these are really pretty.
They are gorgeous quilts and do have that WOW factor :!:
I just see beautiful, both look great to me.
I love them both. They are pretty and cozy. My quilts never turn out like I picture them before I start them.
Looks great to me!
You didn't do anything wrong. I have made two of the TAW quilts and the only thing I see that would have made a difference would be to make a smaller square when you started. I , too, made a blue one and wasn't as happy as when I made one with bright colors. Blue is tranquil. Still beautiful.
Both look great to me. I don't know what you were expecting, but I think they are both excellent.
I think they're beautiful!! Great job!!
I love the quilt. I would say the WOW factor is there for me!! You did a wonderful job!!
awe, you did a great job. maybe vary the size of the flowers. I would not hang my head about those quilts. Beautiful!!
They are both lovely.
Both look good to me! Though I lean toward the first one more! That is just me...I don't care for a lot of white in my quilts but usually like when someone else uses it in their quilt! Be easy on yourself. They are both great!
Well I can see what you saying.....I certainly wouldn't put that on your bed at all....I would start all over with another fabric choice...and better yet send that blue flowered mess to me I'm sure I can find someplace to store it...my goodness.
All joking aside it's beautiful...I just love how it turned out. I love all the flowers and how you have rowed them is gorgeous......Great job!!!!! |
I like it!
