In terms of a wow factor, think about using additional colors. Blue is calming in practically all of its incarnations, and especially in florals, so using all blues and whites pretty much guarantees a calm quilt. I always offset blue fabrics with pink fabrics to add a little dynamic "tension". You might look to add pink florals to your stash, and also fabrics that have both pink and blue flowers (so you have some transition fabrics to work with). It seems to me that many of your florals are of large flowers in one color. Try adding in some smaller sized florals, and also some non-floral fabrics for variations in texture. For example, even if you wanted to stick with all blues, some ocean blues and sky blues would add a lot of textural variation. Or, consult with my sister. She consistently comes up with Wow! quilts using fabrics I would never have considered purchasing, much less combining into a quilt. I still haven't figured out how she does it....... |
They are both pretty.
|
I like it..........
|
I think you are being too hard on yourself!
My favorite is the second one, though. I think your issue may be with florals that have large spaces between the flowers. I think this is a common problem for quilters. |

Please excuse the big toothless grin in front of it!!!! : ) This was the first of many that she "tried" to get into, at the time just being goofy and not realizing that it was totally okay w/ me for her to be in them!!! Your quilts are gorgeous, by the way. But if it's drama you're looking for, try more colors and some smaller florals!! |
I think more fabrics, a gradation of blue, more transion from light to dark? Maybe?

Though I think it looks good. |
You got the contrast part right! The lights and darks combined are great! Don't be afraid of color! Play a little with it! :-)
|
are you kidding, they are fantastic---great job.
|
Both look great, they surely represent a tremendous amount of hours to pull these off. You are way too hard on yourself. Enjoy your beautiful work.

What your eyes are missing is a contrast, you've got some proposals, let me add something. Imagine a triangel with one of the base colors blue, yellow and red in each corner. Every color is the neighbor of the other two and no one has an opponent. Now mix the respective neighbors. You get a hexagon with blue - green - yellow - orange - red - violet. In this diagram any color has an opponent. The complementary color of blue is orange. You can settle for one of the possible contrast colors: pink would arouse a warm charism, yellow a chilly and orange a blazing one. To apply the color onto the finished quilt, it's possible to accentuate some petals with quilting thread or stitching thread. Please excuse my english, I struggled  and hope it is understandable Best regards stitchmortiser |
I hate to be the one to 'rain on your parade', but I see a lot of "WOW" factor in both!

I think they are beautiful! Love the colors!
|
I think you made 2 beautiful quilts. Blue is my favorite color.

Firstly you have done a lovely job and I'm impressed you did two quilts. I agree with the comments written with adding some variation in pattern and shade of colour. I also love blue and white together but used many different types of blue and shades to get it sorted as I found it could look a little flat. Every quilt seems to provide it's own learning and I am yet to achieve a quilt without that. Feel happy with your work.

I think you did a wonderful job......I'm partial to blue, therefore, I go gaga just seeing those colors. Keep at it!

Wow! They are gorgeous! You are too critical on yourself....these are both gorgeous and have the Wow factor.
Blessings, MaryAnna PS If you are looking for more punch from color, try contrasting fabrics for that color punch. Yellow & blue is a good example. Or yellow & purple, or orange & purple. Look at a color wheel and choose fabrics that are contrasting. |
