I think that worked just as it should have. I like the way you bargain. My guess is she thought she got a bargain as well.

Winnemay 12-01-2011 02:18 PM

smiled and given her the money ... you got a bargain ... $40 was the price you quoted to finish the quilting ... would you like to do a few for me at that price?

You did exactly the right thing!

Me too, would have written out that check with a smile.

I cannot believe she thought $20 was too much. I think that giving her the $20 and getting the quilt was a good idea as I doubt that she would have been pleased with what you did. I am not critizing your abilities but she sounds as if nothing would please her. If you decide you don't like the quilt I'll send you the money and finish the quilt for myself.

You go, girl. You made a great deal.

gramquilter2 12-01-2011 04:53 PM

I would have done the same. $40 is cheap to do any hand quilting, I am glad that you were able to save it.

Your Mama didn't raise any stupid children. What a deal.

Sneed 12-01-2011 05:34 PM

Be happy with your decision...I think you did the best thing. Hope she doesn't see it finished and want it back.

I am glad that she didn't know what she had because you got a great quilt. Now, if I could only find one like that at a garage sale.
