yep that what I use the 600E touch & sew it's a great machine. I have had mine for at least 25 years and I bought it second hand.

If you know what the cams look like for the 401A I might have some here that will work in it.

I have cams & a few other parts from my mother-in-law's machine but I don't know what type of Singer it was. Her machine had dry rotted from sitting in the sun and the plastic housing just broke when you touched it so I had to junk it a long time ago. I saved the parts off it that could be salvaged but they don't fit my machine. I wish I knew for sure what machine it was.

I have a Singer 603E that I bought used in 1974. Have used it every since and still use it exclusively! Love it. It looks just like the one you have pictured here but is gold instead of blue. I believe they were built in the mid 1960s

A 401 Singer is the first anything I purchased after I graduated from high school and was out working. I still have it and it still sews great. The lid on top lifts up and the black cams go in there. However it makes many beautiful stitches with just the dials.

Those black "top hats" are probably Bakelite.

As said before, the top one is the Singer 401A, I also have one I inherited from my Mom. They are wonderful machines. I paid a little less than $75.00 to have a Singer repairman do a complete check up and repair on mine. I have see them priced as high as $350.00 on Ebay, that was the bid price and I know it is worth at least that much, I wouldn't take for mine!!

I bought my golden touch and sew model 630 my first year after I graduated also. When I got my first income tac return it went towards the sewing machine. April 3,1969. I love that machine.
My son was sewing some strapping on it one night and it made a funny noise and now isn't working properly. I am looking for another one to replace whatever went wrong with it. This machine sews like a dream. I have all the cams for it etc and would love to get it into working order for one of my granddaughters to have later on.
I made jeans and everything on that old work horse.
If anyone has one for sale or knows of one let me know please.

The second one looks like a Singer 600 which uses cams. Can you see the model number? I have my MIL's Singer 600E that uses cams, but haven't had it out lately and don't quite remember exactly how it looks.

Good grief! The Singer in the second picture is exactly what I bought back in the early 60's and it came with a cabinet!

It's still at my parent's home in Hilo, Hawaii and has been much neglected over these years, and definitely shows the effects of the salt air, saddly. But I still can do straight stitching for minor repairs if I have to.

Brings back loads of memories. Mom did use it a lot in the years before she died.
