I used about 26 different colors, cutting enough of each color to make 2 blocks.( except for black, where I cut enough to make extra blocks and to accommodate the black edge pieces). I had 2 1/2" squares left over and added some extra ones to do the scrappy border. Hope I got that correct....I'm not good at explaining directions.

So a 'fun to do' quilt but a lot of 'figuring-out' on the way!!

Hey ranger,

Could you double check the piece sizes? I think something might be off, since with your layout, I *think* your strip sizes would give a block 6.5 x 8.5 unfinished. I might be off.

I did a mock up in Excel. The yellow block is with your listed sizes. The green one is the *I think* correct way to get an 8x8 block. Each square is 1" and the darker black line represents the block.
Yeah, you're right, Lucy....my bad. It's an 8 1/2" x6 1/2 block. It did have me 'puzzled', didn't it? lol. Thanks for helping with that.

Could you clarify the measurements of each square, that makes up the block. I'm confused now. :(

Thanks

I have a 23yo son that has Autism and I have been toying around with ideas for his quilt and I think I have it now. I looked at the applique quilt and really liked it but yours seems like its a lot more user/maker friendly.

And I can use all of my scraps for it!! :D

I'm so sorry,sewnsewer2. It's my fault that you're confused. My directions were poor. The finished block is 6x8", NOT 8x8".

Go back and look at Lucy's mock up. Look at the yellow block....that is my block.
Each square is 1" and the darker black line represents the block.

Hope that helps. If you have other questions, send me a message.

Oh, please, please forgive me. I'm wrong again and if you could see me, I am literally beet red. I'm not going to try to explain any more... it's just too embarrassing. Instead, I'll give you this link which is simple and should help you. Towards the bottom, bugsmom gives the sizes for her quilt.
