This may sound silly, but the first thing I thought of was an anaconda in the tropical rain forests...the red part being what is being cleared/ stripped away for farming and robbing the species of their habitat. I guess it would be hell on earth for those creatures, huh? I do agree about changing the binding to a color within the quilt...yellow, blue, ??
