I did something similar, but used clips on the corners and mid way along the top and the sides. That way I could fold it down or over half the door vertically or horizontally to let some light in or use the door.

I had thought about this but could not think how to attach it (I have never seen clip on curtain hooks) Thanks for the tip- yours looks really lovely.

Very clever use of the blocks - which make a very nice quilt, too!

Wonderful idea....I think I just might do this for our bedroom. Not for the cold in Winter, but for the heat of the sun in the summer time. I'll just coordinate with the valance I've already made. Thanks for the idea!

Lovely quilt... but when I first glanced at the pictures it looked like it was hanging OUTSIDE. One side looks like siding and the quilt on the other side looked like a chain link fence! Whoo, I really needed to get my glasses. When I was first married, almost 40 years ago, they sold a product called Warm Windows that was made for this purpose. It was an insulated lining you sewed like Roman Shades and used your choice of fabric for the interior side. I had one very leaky window on the north side of the house. I think that the house warmed up 5 degrees in the first 10 minutes it was hanging. I was a newly wed California girl living in rural northeast Nebraska... I was freezing. I only did 2 or three windows - it was expensive, but it sure worked.
