Quilts for my Daughter
#3
Great job! I love the t-shirt quilt. I have never made one- I am afraid of all those stretchy shirts!
And the wedding one is so pretty, too- and a great gift! (I am currently working on a quilt for a wedding gift, myself.)

Both quilts are great. I need to show a friend of my daughter's that picture, as she was asking me about tshirt quilts.
The ocean breeze quilt is lovely! Did you stitch in the ditch, then do free motion on the border? I love the way it looks. The colors are so nice and soothing, too.

I would normally do stitch in the ditch because I like to showcase the piecing - but I read in the rules for the quilt competiiton in the local fair that the stitches must be visible - so I stiched 1/4" into the blue/white blocks. The outside is free-motion. All don my my little Janome.
The wedding quilt was made in just over a month. The tshirt quilt I made over a period of several months. It was supposed to be a grad gift when she received her PhD in Nov07 - but I was working at the time.

The tshirt quilt was actually pretty easy - and once I figured out I could get creative in making the blocks a lot of fun. I like diagonal lins - can you tell?
To combat the stretch use iron on non-woven interfacing the lightest you can find. Interface as much of the logo/frontof the tshirt as you can so there's lots to play with.
