Our ancestor quilters used cut-up newspaper for foundation when stripping. When I lived in DC, there was a guest speaker at our guild who showed primitive quilts from Applachia. Some of these quilts had newspaper as batting, were tied and made from scraps of clothing. I recall a red skirt that had had the pocket removed. The fabric under the pocket had not faded as much. The pocket was used elsewhere in the quilt.

Talk about recycling!!

the old newspapers used a different ink, so it didn't come off after a day or so, once it had 'set' - the high speed presses most papers use now work with an ink that smears and comes off, even days later - don't know if it ever really 'sets' - if you're worried about the ink used on phone book pages, iron a page with a scrap of fabric and see it any of the ink transfers - I would guess not, but you never know. Also, sometimes just ironing the pages first will set the ink and ensure that it doesn't transfer to your fabric.

I'm not clear on how you are using the phone book pages... Is there an online tute for your method? Is this something that can utilize small scrap pieces?

Hubby never throws out any old phone books, so I would have plenty to choose from!

Sorry, I'm having a lot of trouble with the website today and my posts are not showing up, then coming up duplicate! Think I will give up on QB for today...

Does the ink rub off on the fabric?

Great idea and there is nothing rubbing off on fabric?
Pretty pink.

Using the phone book for pp sheets is great. Also, your pink is so pretty.
