Amazing that you found it on a base and are in turn sending it to a soldier! Thank you for rescuing it and putting it to such a wonderful use!

p.s. The black shows up fine - you can see the leaves in the quilting very well!

I am glad you saved it Tisha. I can't help but wonder what the story is with this quilt. It is sad that someone went to a lot of trouble and expense to make this special quilt for someone. It obviously had a lot of thought put into it with the deer panel and all the fall forest fabrics and other prints associated with an avid hunter, then finally a leaf quilting design was selected. They invested in the fabric and other materials and paid a LAer to do a very nice job, or possibly even had their own LA. It was probably given with so much love and the maker probably thought of the recipient the whole time , from the thrill of finding that panel that was just perfect to picking out the other fabrics that looked like a forest in fall, then during the piecing process. Maybe the recipient liked to go hunting in the fall and the maker thought this would be so loved and appreciated. Then it ends up in a thrift store on a base! So sad and I hope the maker never finds out as it would probably break their heart. :(

I am glad you found it and it wil make its way to soldier who will love it the way the original giver intended.

Fate must have put it in your hands. That quilt must have known that you would pass it on to it's intended owner (whom ever that turns out to be). Quilts are smart like that. :)

The maker did a very nice job on it.
