HAH! Love him! Canadian squirrels look like a cross between the grey squirrels in Florida, where I'm from, and the red tufted-ear squirrels here in Germany, where I live now. I've never seen this species of squirrel before! Thanks for sharing his picture and your wonderful quilt portrait of the little guy!

edited to say: it seems this little guy is of the same species as our German red squirrels...it's just that not all individuals get a grey winter coat. Thanks again for the post...I learned a lot in addition to enjoying your quilt rendition!

Your recreation of this picture is amazing. Please enter it into some kind of contest and tell us what you win.

He is adorable and looks just like the picture. My first thought when I saw the picture was, "I've had days like that myself."

Goodness, that little squirrel is the cutest! You should put your work in a contest or show.

Great job! I haven't done thread painting, but I'm getting ready to thread paint a mother bird feeding her babies in a nest. I'm curious how you approached the thread painting. What were your steps? Did you follow someone's book with instructions? I'm wondering if printing the photo on fabric or using Transfer Artist Paper to iron the photo onto the fabric and then stitching over it would work. I understand that you need a stabilizer under the stitching.
