This quilt is from Bonnie Hunter's book called Adventures With Leaders & Enders. The pattern is "Mad City Mama." I modified the pattern to use the Cotton Theory method. This is the third quilt I have made and it took me 4 months to complete. It contains more than 4,100 pieces, and is 106" x 90" -- bigger than I planned for it to be. How did it grow?!

I made this for my mother-in-law. I used lots of fat quarters and scraps from my stash, and the only fabric I purchased were the various purples (MIL's favorite color). After I got started on the quilt, MIL sent me a box of scraps that had been in her garage for 27 years. The fabric pieces had belonged to her own mother who died in 1983. Aslee was a quilter, and I used many of the fabric scraps she left behind in this scrappy quilt.

Has she seen it yet or its it a surprise? I bet she's going to just love it. What a lot of work you've put into it, I hope she appreciates how much you care for her.

That is a beautiful quilt. I love the scrappy look. What a wonderful label. Three generations in that quilt. It should be a family heirloom. Great job and thanks for sharing.
